Always look forward too. Dont get in habit of looking straight down at your front tire.

Isn't the SeaAlaska open? It's a "charming" night's sleep with a bar room brawl typically brewing on the dance floor. A must if you're on two wheels though. Great Value and a true bonding experience with other two-wheelers.

Any current info in the condition of the Dempster? Im in Dawson City. The road from white horse to DC is ok. Lots of pot holes, plenty of gas stations so no probs. Just take it easy

    Migilito,
Check with the visitor center in Dawson City. They normally have the latest info.

I’m sorry but I’m not sure redroamer should be attempting Tuk if this is her first year of off road riding. Maybe she will get lucky and it will be dry but the dempster isn’t something I would recommend for a newb off reader.

As I live in Tsiigehtchic I can tell you about the Dempster around me. From Fort McPherson to Inuvik the road is in good shape. It is dry and a decent ride at this moment. The only issues are the areas where grading is taking place and the road will be softer in those areas. Enjoy your ride.

Yeah forgot that one, always look far down the road, not down at your wheel.

In a way I don't want to agree but TBH, I do. Be very careful @RedRoamer - no harm in turning back if the going is bad - it will still be an adventure!

I was there a few days ago. I was told to push across but saw a local riding a quad-bike over. I think the issue is not interfering with pedestrian traffic. I pushed my bike over (it’s not that far after all - if you can’t push your bike 50yds on a level surface you shouldn’t be riding it). On the way back, there was nobody around so what difference could it possibly have made?

Can’t answer the camping question as it was raining when I got there so I wimped out and got a hotel room.

BTW, I’m on my way back after hitting all the planned spots in Alaska, plus a bonus ride to Hyder and up to the Salmon Glacier (road just open a few days ago and well worth the effort.)

Now stalled in Smithers waiting on chain & sprockets (Dalton Hwy caused more wear and tear than initially suspected). Should be back on the road tomorrow afternoon.

Ol Man if you end up camping can you let me know where. I also planned on camping there if possible. If not I will retreat back to the copper river to camp at the end of the day.

Oh...okay. Team Moose Racing is always willing to post pictures....as evidence.

Had 4 of us that met up for dinner at The World Famous....BUS.

One of the riders on an R100GS has already ridden up to TUKTOYAKTUK , and is now heading home.

Another rider at dinner was Dave.....@djroszina.....been in Hyder for a couple days, and will be riding up to TUK with the rest of Team Moose Racing.

Then there was the two members of Team Moose Racing.....

And we had a fun time with a couple from Belgium....nice dinner companions.

A couple of recommendations if you’re on the Alcon to Whitehorse: Johnson’s Crossing for gas and fresh baked goods. Lovely people and amazingly good food.

In Whitehorse, go to the Takhini hot springs, stay at the Hostel (or camp) and whatever you do, make sure to eat at the restaurant at the hot springs. Best meal and ambiance in the road thus far.

Nice job Trasch I am going to give it a shot in the morning. Will do my best to keep everyone updated. I came over here because I thought the Dempster would be in better shape than the Dalton. Not too sure that will be the case. Oh well I’m here now I am going up and have a look around.
