Curious about ridng east of the park all the way up to North Bay, looking at google earth there is a gas and hydro line that goes a long way. it looks as if there is a tral there. Any one know for sure?

Is late May too early to ride there, I assume it is ???

Is it in the Park? If so, no. The Hwy 60 corridor and the Barron Canyon Rd up to Lake Travers are really the only places motorized vehicles are allowed to go, including a couple of shorter access roads to places like Brent, Rain Lake and Kiosk.

I know about no trail riding in the park, but the gas line runs paralel to hwy 17... I didn't really think it was in the park boundries...

Its a no go. Gated. Researched it a few years ago. Supposed to be some cool logging roads though that run just outside of the park..

If we're thinking of the same trail...got a google map or something ?

Strictly off the record, you can penetrate deep into the Eastern Park via the logging and hydro "routes". They are doing lots of selective cutting deep inside the park. My theory is that they don't want the general public and tree huggers seeing that.

Just South of Chalk River, at Duke Crossing, look for Orange Rd, to Archray Rd, to Bisset Creek Rd. I've been told you can make it out to Brent Rd from there. :evil

yup they are just up the road from me, passed them a few time never been there.
As for the park you can go North / South via hydro line (so I have heard) Starting just west of Deep River ( gas Station) and come out in Madawaska. Great camp site on the rail trail following the river there.

There is plenty of trail on the east side of the park from Whitney to Barrys Bay south to Maynooth.
Much of these trials are run in the two day Algonquin Trail ride. Most open stuff including hydro lines and two tracks and the B line are doable with big bikes.
From Ottawa head to highway 60 and from Madawaska you can go in any direction. May should be clear of snow.
