I've just received a replacement Montana 680 from Garmin (a long story!). My problem is I have got City Nav 2018 maps on a 2gb sd card. I also want to load TalkyToasters 1:50000 Topo maps which (I think) are over 1mb. Is there a way I can get both these maps onto one sd card? The CN maps are locked to the card so it's not just as simple as copying the files to another card. Someone else must have come across this problem.
    Any ideas?

City navigator on sd card and topo maps on internal storage space. I have similar setup.

Hi El Lobo - thanks for the reply. That was my first thought, my only slight concern is that there's only 2.7gb free on the device and the topo maps will take up 1gb of that. Just thinking it's not leaving a lot of spare room for photos, future upgrades etc. I'm wondering what anyone does with larger map files!

Totally agree DaMonk but the Garmin CN2018 card is 4gb, the maps use up 3.6gb leaving virtually no room for anything (photos AND music? now there's wishful thinking!!!) - hence my original question.

You could maybe admit you made a mistake with the SD card and buy the download version of CN and a large SD card to put anything you want on it.
But maybe somebody has solved the problem.

I don't know if Garmin would make you a deal on that.

I am using my older Garmin Colorado gps as a backup/topo viewer. It´s loaded up with all the maps that doesn´t fit my Montana 600.
And its also easier to use a button instead of a touchscreen with your gloves when you wanna zoom in/out on something on the move.
At the moment I use Citynavigator as main view on my montana and it covers almost everything where I ride. I haven´t used topo mode on it many times this riding season.
Freespace last time I checked was under 500mb. No pics/videos or audio on this model.
I know this aint the answer to your problem but this is my setup...

Thanks Wbbm but the card came with the (very good) deal on the unit so I didn't have a choice (should have said it's a 4gb card, not a 2gb) so mistake might be a bit harsh! But yes that would have been a better solution. Might be worthwhile trying Garmin, thanks for the suggestion. I must admit El Lobo I like the ability to quickly change the profile between CN and Topo maps.

If you ever get you map stuff sorted out, there is a pretty quick way to switch between maps on the Montana. You can have one Profile show City Navigator and then another Profile show Topos.
Then if you place the Profile icon on the main menu, you can switch in about 3 clicks (vs maybe 5 or so clicks if you use the Map screen menu method of switching.)

Thanks to MBD for this tip.

Thanks Wbbm already on it!!! One of the things I really like about the unit although creating profiles and shortcuts at the moment is a bit trial and error as there's not much detailed info on it!

Correction to the above, plenty of info on here!!! :clap

Quick update Wbbm. Contacted Garmin and they very kindly added a downloadable version to my account free of charge, so 5 gold stars for service and customer satisfaction!!!
