Day 6 of back to the states.Breakfast with the Locos. We watch them prep for the day.We dont do anything but load up.We gassed up at Vizcaino.Should make it to Bay of La for the next gas stop.I think thats about 200 miles total.Todays stopping point will be Coco's Corner for the night.

We barely made it to the Bay of La.KK hit reserve about 12 miles out on both tank valves. We gassed up and had lunch at Las Hammacas restaurant. It was good and the place was very clean.I had about 8/10 gallon left .I got this pic on the hill coming into town.

My best night's sleep while on the road-Coco's Campers. It was cold that night and the wind was blowing. But no dogs barking, roosters crowing.no traffic.Lights out at 6:30 pm.Took 800mg of ibuprofen.

Day 7 from Cabo to the border.I got up early to get some pics. When you goto bed at 6:30 pm you get up early. The days are short the 1st week of february. The plan for today was ride to Alphonsina's for breakfast then straight up the slab back to the USA.Kind of boring but KK and I both had some problems going on.KK wanted to call his bank about his missing atm card and my rh knee was hurt.My calf muscle was swelled up and had a purple streek across the top.Last few pics:1drink

Thanks to Lica on the Oso Loco crew we knew we had to goto the newer border crossing on the east side of Mexicali to get KK'S tvip cancled .The banjercito is right at the border there-I think on the left side.I crossed and waited for KK to meet me on the US side.It was about 3 pm.If you do this just cut into the sentri lane on the left.I got stuck in the wait and a guy in a chevy tahoe let me cut across.Xr650rs overheat fast. Back at my van-time for a beer.

KustomizingKid said he needed more sand.I wasnt up for it but since he was in California from Minnesota I knew I could help him out-with a trip to Glamis dunes on the way home.

My bike back at home. For tires I ran a Dunlop mx71 front size 90/100-21.Its fat and wide and works good in sand. For the rear I ran Shinko 244 5.10x18.I didnt feel compromised by dirt or pavement.I had to okie rig a new tail light in Cabo.

Looks like the rear tire is done. What was the total mileage?

Twisted Hog-I dont know the total mileage. My gps went down and I have 1 of those trailtech vapor speedos that I dont think is working correctly. At least 2200.I am going to run a mild dual sport event this weekend and I am running those tires another 200 miles.I would run that combo again.I was running 20 psi both ends all the time..The front seemed a little harsh and the back needed a more spring rate.

I got a Mita Dakar 09 for the rear and a TKC80 for the front. When I picked up the Mita the fellow who also has done Baja recomended running higher pressures to avoid pinch flats. Said running higher pressure was good for kicking out the rocks and helped from bending your rim when you hit a pot hole or void in the roadway.

Not sure what the real time of your ride when you passed the 2 DR's. Could it have been Beckstastic and Andrea?
