Still to early to talk about real racing ?
Poto out for Nationals.
Could be a KTM then for the championship. Dungey and Roczen look to be favorites in my book. Canard should be in the mix if he can stay healthy. Milsaps may be a surprise again - might have some consistency if he's fully recovered. Haven't heard how bad Tomac's injury is. He's going to be dangerous. Barcia and Stewart may get some wins, but just don't think they will be consistent enough for the championship.
Don't forget Reed.
I did forget, but not sure what to think of his chances. Probably going to get some podiums, but I don't see him taking a win and certainly not the championship - but I'm often wrong. I think it's great that he's racing - just past his prime to compete week in and week out with the youngsters.
Ryan Villopoto To Miss Outdoor Motocross Nationals
It’s no longer a rumor, it’s official: Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto will not defend his number-one plate in the 450 class in the upcoming Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
According to a release issued by the team today, “Ryan Villopoto will be unable to defend his 2013 Pro Motocross Championship title after opting to get knee surgery to fix a lingering injury.”
However, Villopoto’s bike won’t sit idle this summer, as the Monster Energy Kawasaki Team has recruited 2013 Monster Energy Motocross National Champion Brett Metcalfe to take Villopoto’s place and join Jake Weimer on the team.}
I think that if Stewart's knee is ok, which is questionable also at this point, I'd say that he is the man to beat. It's been a while but he is one hell of an outdoor rider. I'd love to see Dungey or Roczen step up and give him a run but not sure I see either of them having the outright speed to run with Stew. I'll be pulling for Roczen though.
I'd like to see it come down to the last round between Dungey, Roczen, and Stewart.
Am I missing something, when did Metcalfe become a 2013 Monster Energy Motocross National Champion???
He's a good rider, fast and all that but I don't remember him winning a championship?
Racer X- "Monster Energy Kawasaki has signed the 2013 Canadian Monster Energy Motocross Nationals Champion Brett Metcalfe to join Jake Weimer for the 2014 AMA Pro Motocross season."
Yep, doesn't reconcile with his bio - http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/493/5219/Motorcycle-Article/Brett-Metcalfe-Bio.aspx
Poor Weimer, it's one thing to get beat by your teammate when it's RV, but I don't see him finishing ahead of Metcalfe unless Metcalfe has a bad luck day, which happens.
Weston finished as high as 4th last year? I wonder if he will snag a podium this year with the RCH backing him.
Malcolm may be a podium candidate this year as well.
I wonder if Husqvarna will have a presence this year?
There is talk of the Rockstar KTM team being a Husky team in 2015.
yes they will be weed whacking the fence lines.
