these other series were being tried at a time of big factory involvement, but now, we have almost no factory involvement. if the purses are big enough, and the events held at good facilities, I think they will do ok. Hey, somebody has to do something!!
of course the ama will probably threaten those that want to run the outlaw events, it's happened before.

Isn't there an ASRA series or some such?

    http://www.asraracing.com/

I admit, I didn't read the JU article. He is a great source of knowledge, but his entire career, race team and magazine, hinges on the AMA series, so his opinions on such are always heavily biased towards what is best for his magazine and team. He has to be careful of real criticism for that reason. Puts him in a bit of a funny position.

    Latest updates:
    1. Westby is starting his own Daytona Sportbike team, with sponsorship from Yamalube.

    2. Eslick back to DSB on a Triumph.

    3. Pegram to partner with EBR with Geico sponsorship.

    4. Meen Motorsports adding an additional team. Wow, what are they thinking?

Still 5 events for 2014. No word on a TV package that I can see.

Something has to be done and John's just the man to instigate it.

Looks like Clark is still managing to pay for the privilege of being a factory rider.

Kind of amazing that this disaster happened right before our eyes the way it did. The France remnants must have really pissed off a lot of people. Arrogance? Stupidity? Who knows...

Roger Edmondson had the right idea, but no sense for execution. He may have not been the brightest bulb, but it is obvious now he was simply the fall guy of the moment. The guy he reported to owns all of what we have left. And as much as he claims to favor motorcycle racing, he is ignorant of it.

There is an opportunity now for a new national motorcycle road race series I think. I hope somebody like a budding Roger Penske sees it.

I agree, for the most part. It is unbelievable. I think Edmonson had a big role in the demise though, more than just a fall guy.

Where we are now is absolutely shameful. And the gimmicky solutions proposed are even more so.

The only reasonable solution would be to mimic and align with WSBK/BSB. And ditch the fucking stupid Daytona branding post haste.

Lock whoever is in charge in a room with On Any Sunday playing in an endless loop for as long as it takes. :gerg

Yeah, damn him for assisting the mechanics, and team support to keep their jobs. And not finish last...ever. Who does he think he is? :rolleyes

Did I miss an announcement about internet streaming for the races? I don't remember reading anything about that.

Even if DMG put together the dream of a 12 event schedule, guaranteed healthy purses, live HD broadcasts on a major network and travel subsidies for teams, many fans would still hate them. Too much damage has been done and too many broken promises. A new organizer would really help public opinion but it won't change the market/economy issue. I still wonder if pro road racing can be exist on a national level in the U.S. without subsidies from the AMA or a similar body.
