    Hey everybody!

I've got a deal I want to run by the hive brain here. It's about this bike:

    http://utica.craigslist.org/mcy/2146883278.html

It looks like a cool (if incomplete) old project. The nifty part is that the guy is interested in my old Epiphone, which would mean a straight trade--bike for guitar. I can't really play the guitar anymore anyway (and I got the guitar for free!), so I can't complain about the deal.

But is the bike anything special? Can a replacement motor be found out there? Is there another more modern motor that can fit in its place?

    Thanks for the wisdom...

I don't know very much about these, but I'm old enough to recall seeing them new at the dealer's circa 1973-74 or thereabouts. IIRC they came in 100cc, 125 and 175cc sizes and were made in Taiwan. I have no idea if you can get parts anywhere, much less a whole engine short of finding a donor bike.

Personally, I don't think its worth anywhere near $300.

Thank you for the opinions, and the history. I did a bit of research and I think I can sell the guitar for more than $300. Maybe not a great deal after all.

I don't play the guitar, but that guy would have to give me 3 guitars and the 300 bux to take that thing away. I would throw it in the dumpster when it's dark outside so no one seen me doing it..Just saying..........

I wouldn't trade an incomplete set of used strings for that thing.

This is why I love this place. Humor and good info all wrapped neatly together.

Thanks folks. I'll take the advice (and my guitar) and run in the other direction.

When you said you had an Indian question, my mind raced to imagine a Scout 45" hidden away in the hay barn, not seen for 70 years and I clicked the link to that P.O.S. and the dream died....

If you can talk him into giving it to you, I will take the gas tank just to hang on the garage wall.

I have an old friend that was working on his retirement gift to himself, a Henderson four. Outside the entrance price, he said it costs about the same to work on good stuff and junk......

The Indians of legend and lore were built in Springfield, MA, until 1953. This ain't one of them.
