Hello Again. In the next few days I'll be heading East on my holidays. Last summer I went straight south to New Orleans and here's a link to that RR. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=805218

This time I'm gonna try and write the RR from the road as opposed to a year later.

The route and timelines are still pretty loose, but all I know is that I have to be back at my desk by the 10th of September. I did a trip to Boston in 2009 wherein I went almost entirely through the US. I haven't really explored Canada on the bike, so this is the summer to remedy that and visit a few of friends in Ontario and Montreal along the way.

Here's a rough idea of what my route will look like, although, don't hold me to it if I decide that I never want to leave Montreal. Everything after New York will really be fly by the seat of my pants. I haven't decided if I'll ride home through the States (most likely) or I'll head back up North and ride home thru Canada.

That's it for now. I've got a million little details to figure out and complete before this becomes reality.

In and subscribed. Looks like I may be the first to say: if your route brings you close to Indianapolis, IN I have tent space, a hot shower and a pretty well equipped shop, oh yeah cold beer too. Safe travels:freaky

Looks like fun and I know what you mean about not wanting to leave Montreal. That has to be the best big city I have ever experienced. NYC and Chicago can be tough on a bike. Those people don't have the same good manners as Canadians. :lol3

    Hi ann,

Newbe here, and first post... Having been a guest reader for a while, i needed to join, so i could post here...

Read your previous trip report, loved it, and its great to see the girls getting out there, lol, so looking forward to following this one...

I know its not always easy to achieve, but getting setup in camp, tent and stuff before dark is a big help to the mindset of camping...

Have Fun, and Safe travels.... J :1drink

Thanks everyone for the good wishes. I can't wait to hit the road. It's cloudy and rainy here today, which is typical for the start of all my trips. Hopefully it will clear up in the next few days.

Here's some details of my preparation so far.

    1) Trip Tik from CAA/AAA ordered and picked up
    2) First few days routes loaded into the GPS.
    3) Packing completed and ready to go
    4) Practiced putting up the tent - determined to put it to use this time.
    5) Bike brought in and given thorough check up.

I dropped the bike off at Wildwood Sports. They're a great set of guys at this shop. It's where I bought the bike after about 3 straight winters just going in and looking, trying to decide if this was the year I was going to get back into riding. They always made time for me even though I'm sure they figured I would never buy. The owner has a number of vintage bikes and still races in the States.

    Dropping off the bike:

HA! That's funny, Road Damage. Here's a shot from yesterday when my sister was mocking me for practicing my 'tent-putting-up' skills for the hundredth time. She had the opposite take and was asking why I bother. She says I should save myself the trouble and leave my tent at home as she knows I won't use it. I'm determined to prove her wrong.
