    Anyone here belong to the BMW Riders of Vancouver Island Club? Anyone know anything about it? I'm thinking of joining and I'm just curious as to what people know.

    Send me a pm and give me some insight. I'm not really a joiner but I've seen quite a few older Beemers roaring around the Saltair area. Ridden by old guys of course.

    Nothing more appealing than heading down over the Malahat and going for a feast at Smitty's....

    Since no one else has given you any information, here's my take:
    Very casual group, varied ages but a fair number of us old farts;
    Monthly breakfast gathering (not a meeting); see the dates and various locations on the webpage http://www.bmwrvi.org/
    We don't usually have a ride after the breakfast but there will often be a day ride some other date during the month, a couple of special events like the New Years's TROC (Toast to the Rest of Canada) & chillie lunch, and a couple of weekend rides over the year.
    Plus riders planning to go to various rallies will often go together.
    I enjoy being with the group.

    Finally someone who belongs to the club has come forward! And a nice mellow posting to boot. I figured all along that someone here had to also belong to that riding group because there are so many Beemers on the south Island. I'll see if I can attend a ride or event this coming season to get a better idea if I would like to join the club.

    An update. I went on their website today and saw that they planned their first spring ride up to the Brigantine Pub in Maple Bay. I was planning on heading down to Port Renfrew but decided to do a local ride and fit in this gathering of Beemers into my day.

    As I was closing in on the pub, I caught up to something very old ahead of me and when I looked in my mirror I saw the lovely sight of a R100RS closing the gap behind me. I joined the group for lunch and had a wonderful time. The old Beemer ahead of me started life as a '79 R80 and was now something else - it had over 600,000 kms on it..... A nice mix of old and new technology in the group, very welcoming. I paid my $15 and joined. I met some good Airhead contacts that are sprinkled along the Island. And they don't go to Smitty's any more.
