I live in Co Springs and can give you beta on many of the trails. Also pick up the Pikes Peak Atlas map. Lays out most of the trails around here.

Much of it is on mtb project: https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/712638 - you will see the two tails coming in and out from the east.

UVP doesn't have great parking. If it's not during school hours, one could also park in the bus lot for Eagleview Middle School.

I agree with CJ - tying some of the great stuff in COS together into a loop would be a rad day and a moving crossfit workout. Palmer Park --> Pultpit Rock --> Ute Valley would be techie to the max.

Mary's, back up gold camp and down loosen up cross over n Cheyenne canyon road then back up to gold camp and hit buckhorn to jacks and down sesame the up high drive to Palmer and down 16 to inteman then to killing fields and Codell.

Or there is captain Morgan off jacks and then...

Ute Valley is my backyard; yeah the main parking lot stinks and has gotten worse lately. In addition to the parking at the school, you can also park (unofficially) at the trailhead off Tech Center Drive or even in one of the office complex or Marriott lots on the East side; park at Pinon Valley Park on the West side, or (and experiences vary here) I've never had any trouble parking in HP's lot near the bus stop. You could also park at Safeway or Walgreens and ride from there.

Most of the time I just ride from my house though :D

I did this once (or a route very similar). 'Twas a massacre to my knees, quads, and lungs too terrible to speak of. :grim Unfortunately, Killing Fields is no more - dozed. The new trail does use some of it, but nothing goes down the fall line - if you haven't been there in the last month go check it out! I haven't ridden Sesame in a while... I think I still may have enough courage to try the waterfall these days, but I may change my mind looking down it. :yikes

Related - here's very useful KMZ overlay of the area mentioned above for anyone looking for adventure. Keep in mind that some of these trails have closed, but it gives a really nice idea of the topography of North Cheyenne Canon if one isn't familiar.

Edit: you probably need to download the kmz and open in Google Earth. It's a map overlay.

I saw there was a new trail from medicine wheel. I have been laid up with a injury so I will try it soon!

Question for Front Rangers - is the USAFA Falcon Trail open? If so, any regulations (buddy rule?)

Had a great ride this last weekend overlooking the Collegiate Peaks - started in snow, ended in a T-shirt. Midland, Broken Boyfriend, Whipple all in good shape. Man is that a great view, what is that little town in the valley called again?

I asked a few more people around town in C. Springs. A few have "heard" that there are some new trail modifications on base; the Falcon Trial is open and the base is being a little more flexible about the buddy system. I may try to ride up there this weekend to verify these claims.

They haven't bothered me. But as graduation approaches and dignitary visits so will security and they generally close down official access at that time. But there are ways around it

    Phil's World is top shelf!!!

Well marked and signage at each intersection. All singletrack and 1 way only for all trails. Other trail managers would do well to study this system. We looped Rib Cage a few times...WOW :-)

Taking a break now and back on the trails shortly. Technically no camping per an old timer but we did not get booted either. Breaking in Timboats new overland pop-up. Thumbs up from him.

Land is a combo of leased state land, BLM & private easement.

This is a bucket list place to ride!!!

Off to Sedona MTB trails tomorrow, then Overland Expo next weekend :-)

It was a great day to be out there. I stayed in town to get some climbing in, and ended up breaking my chain. Fourth chain I've broken on this Salsa this past year.
