I have a Twinmax, but it only does 2, so you'd have to do it a few times to get all 4 carbs synched. I'm in Carson.

Anyone do any riding in the Bucks Lake / Quincy area? Headed back there next weekend and would love to explore a bit more. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys I am looking for a trailer to haul 2 dual sports. Don't need anything crazy. Is anyone local selling?

I have a 6'4"x8' utility trailer I'll be sellling soon. I paid $900 last year and I'll be looking for as close to that as practical. Send me a PM if interested. Will hold two ADV bikes easy but could use wheel chocks.

Going to ride the Western States Trail on Saturday starting in Reno. This will be an all day ride with two track, pavement, technical tough single track and everything in between. Not a beginner ride. Depending on time and temperature maybe even a Foresthill trail 6 loop. We will most likely ride the old snow sheds on the way back and some Truckee single track. If anyone is interested let me know, we'll probably leave around 8 AM.

How was the ride? I've heard the WST recently gotten pretty beat up due to an equestrian ride. How did you connect Truckee to Reno? Anything exciting? Either way hope it was awesome!

Going this Saturday (8-26), have not ridden it in several years. I imagine it would be better every year before the Tevis cup but hopefully it has got enough rain to pack it down a little since the race. The trail gets little use except for the Western States 100 foot race and the Tevis Cup horse race.

I have a couple used D606 tires if anybody wants them. Not a lot of life left but thought I would throw it out there before I toss them. One 120/90-18, one 130/90-18. IMG_0624.JPG IMG_0625.JPG

I really wanted to go on this ride, but my bike is in the shop. I’ve been hoping all week it’d be ready, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. :-(

Have a great time and if you’re doing future rides in the area, please let me know.

btw, as generikal asked, how are connecting Truckee and Reno? I’ve taken Henness down to Boomtown before, but I’d like to find another way. I’ve poked around the Iceland Rd area because it looks like it eventually connects to NF-100, but Iceland Rd seems to be closed to through traffic.

On the way up we'll just ride Hennes pass. On the way back we'll do the snow sheds over to Cold Stream then probably back to Prosser and hit Lloyds over to Boca.

The road behind Andresens cabin goes all the way through to either Caughlin Ranch or down to Boomtown, the only problem is Andresen started locking the gates by his house (the big log cabin at the bottom of gray creek), I did talk with him many years ago and he said he did not care if bikes rode through there but something may have changed. I know he is not allowed to lock the gate at Hirschdale, it is a public right of way. If you ride out there and the gates are unlocked I'd say go for it (I've ridden it many times), it seems like it should be a public right of way, it is the only legal way through the Mount Rose wilderness area and for what it's worth I noticed trucks working on the road up past his house recently.

Thank you for the info. Now I’m really bummed my bike isn’t ready. I’d love to ride with someone familiar with the areas you’re talking about.

Sounds like the makings for a fun Saturday. Have a fun ride.

Good ride today, we kind of bee lined it for the summit, rode down the Tevis Cup trail to the Western States out to Robinson Flat then rode the double track back to the summit. We rode the snow sheds to Cold Stream then on to Prosser and rode Lloyds to Boca, Lloyds is hammered, then home. The ride was about 12 hours including an hour long lunch at Donner Ski Ranch.

Maybe the only nice part of the Tevis

Most of it is loose and rocky

The Western States is in pretty good shape

Just don't crash in the creek
    [IMG]
Huge washout in between tunnels in the snow sheds, we were able to navigate around it though

Is this area accessible from Northstar/ Truckee? We're are having a big weeklong family gathering in Sept and thinking about taking my 500.

I'll see if I can figure that out tomorrow, I am a bit GPS illiterate.

I have the tracks on my computer but do not know how to share them except email...I guess you'd need somewhere to host them. Someone clue me in.
Heres a shot of our route-

#1 Open BaseCamp on your computer.
#2 In the left hand panel of BaseCamp, select the tracks you want to share. (You can hold the shift key to select multiple tracks)
#3 Go up to the "File Menu" in the top left of your screen and select "Export Selected User Data"
#4 A window will open where you can name the file and select the GPX 1.1 file format.
#5 Save the file to your desktop.
#6 Go to this thread on ADVRider and add a post.
#7 You should see a button for "Upload Pic or GPS Track", click the button and then select the GPX file you saved on your computer.

If that's not clear, I can take screen shots to help you.
