Thanks Smackit! I can't believe I never noticed "Upload Pic or GPS Track" before.

    Downloaded without issue. :-)

I enjoy planning a ride and doing my own exploring, but I’m always interested in where others in the area ride as well. Thank you for taking the time to post your tracks.

The Dust Devils club is having a ride on 9/30 that some may be interested in. I made a thread
    http://advrider.com/index.php?threa...sept-30th-2017-reno-nv.1254381/#post-33180519

We are hoping to boost our membership a bit but you don't have to join to come along on the ride. We are working hard on our rides. Something for everyone. Single track, forest roads, adventure rides, camp outs, street rides etc. In 2016 we did a 1000 mile off road ride through northern Nevada, Oregon and California. This year we had a ride from Reno to Fortuna and down the Lost Coast on as much dirt as possible. 2018 will be Moab. Most weekends and a lot of weekdays someone in the club is riding somewhere. Great way to meet new people to ride with.

Great ride today on a lot of new roads for me! It might be a "Duh" story for a lot of you, but if you have never checked out the network of roads east of Frenchman, make a point to do that some day. I had been many times over to Doyle, up to Milford/Antelope or through Dixie valley towards Lake Davis, but never bothered to investigate any of the Crystal Peak (the other Crystal Peak) and Dooley Canyon area. It`s cool! A lot like Dog Valley and Sardine Valley, but all new for me. Lots of very skinny roads (ATV trails?) with hardly any number markers are tough to navigate, but it`s a pretty closed system, so you can`t really get TOO lost. I did manage to ride in a few accidental circles though, haha! A few short sections were kind of challenging for me (small guy on a 400# bike with mediocre dirt skills), but only one was so dificult I decided to turn around. Mostly it`s just great scenery and cool vistas overlooking Frenchman, Sierra Valley, and the southern end of Honey Lake and tight, mildly sandy roads twisting and turning through beautiful pine forest. And I hardly saw anybody else up there the whole day. Derek, when we ever manage to hook up again, that would be a good direction to head out- there are still more roads up there that I didn`t get to today.

As a side note, Wiggins in Chilcoot is in the process of a big remodel. Looking very nice inside- more open, less clutter. The cashier says they are even going to put in an espresso bar for us city folk. That`s fine with me as long as they don`t kill the sandwich counter :-)

Adel OR has no gas. Denio Junction now has a new tank and is selling gas again. It's not pay at the pump and I don't know their hours. I just went through there 2 weeks ago.

Good news. The pumps in Adel looked abandoned when we rode through.

Fun 110 miler today on a big bike, 100 on dirt. Nothing too demanding. The trickiest spot was going up Sunrise Creek Rd. which is pretty rocky for a beast like the AT. A nice blend of terrain overall.

    • Bordertown (start)
    • Dog Valley
    • Henness Pass
    • Sunrise Creek Rd
    • Sardine Peak
    • Lemmon Canyon [650]
    • Sierraville to Antelope Valley Rd
    • Smithneck Rd
    • Babbitt Lookout
    • Stampede
    • Back to Bordertown
    GPX Attached as well...

That AT looks like a great ride. How's it do on the tight stuff?

Well, it still rides like a 515 pound bike. You don't really avoid stuff as much as you plow through. I haven't really tried much single track with it, but its competent enough to do all the fire roads in my area without a problem. Still a handful if you get off camber or off balance. It's been a great tarmac machine, so I guess that the compromise.

    Hello all,

I'm thinking of doing a fishing/riding/camping stint at Pyramid Lake around 09-12 Oct. I ride a BMW 650 Dakar. So, so fisherman....
Anyone think they might want to join up?

Do any of you guys have a long bar chain saw?

There is a 48-60" tree down across the bottom of Mountaineer Trail (Leviathan area). You can walk to it off Leviathan Road so don't need to carry on bike.

I have tracks for this and almost every road/trail in California posted on GpsXchange.com

I believe the Tevis Cup is in Gorgetown/Pacific Ranger District but it is easy to find, first file has map of the entire western sierra with each Ranger district ouitlined find the right one then oprn file for that district and see a track for every route on the MVUM.
