I am really wanting to go and have a look at some propper abandoned or ghost towns in NSW. Not former ghost towns, not places that have people still living there, and preferably places that still have something of the former town there.
Propper 'there is absolutly no one here' abandoned.
Im taking my zzr250. Not the best for touring or dirt roading, but ive done it before and it did well. Slow and steady.

I live at the base of the Blue Mountains. If there is anything within a days ride please let me know!

I have a full road trip/self sufficient camping set up in the back room ready to go! :clap

Yerranderie might be your best bet. Not much of a ghost town as you defined, but definitely an interesting historical site. Not far from your place, if you're careful, you can ride your bike in there (as long as you take the easy route). Good overnight camp spot and lots to look at.

    Hi rat110,

Not really sure if any of these are going to fit your originally posted criteria of a true ("hollywood image") ghost town, with absolutely no inhabitants and an "in tact" remnants of a township, (seemingly) abandonned overnight...

I've been to a number of these places in years past and there's a few of them (that while there are still a few folks living there and regular visitors).

    Sydney on a Sunday? :D
No-one lives there, it's pretty creepy and all the roads are so bad, you'll need a dual-sport's suspension to get through it... :rofl

Rat I'd be keen for that ride. I've been pretty keen to go explore the old township of Joadja, heard some cool stuff.

I have just been doing some good old Google on Joadja. Wow!
Looks awesome! That has made it to #1 on my list.

Thanks a bunch to all the guys that have replied! I am having a look at the rest of the towns suggested and doing some route planning.

Torbane has been taking over by a mining company recently for a new coal project, so it is locked up tightly. However, there is some adjacent ruins at Airly (the residential village of the Torbane miners), it is on private land adjacent to Torbane. I'm not sure how you go about getting access but I've seen a few references on the net on some 4WD websites.

Glen Davis is also locked up but the sign on the gate says they run tours, every Saturday at 11am - $15 a head from memory. There is a really crappy camping ground there if you are really keen.
