Second, the MSF is the best idea. We've talked about it and I want to go that route, if she's still game.

I pull a lot from this thread, mostly confirming what I already learned the hard way.

She always hated riding on the back of mine. Control issues--the good kind. Then someone gave me a Honda Twinstar...which I sold because I thought...no wait, I didn't think. Stupid. She would have learned on that bike. Anyway, no more lost opportunities. I want her to at least have the opportunity to experience the freedom and catharthis that comes... But, the choice and will are hers. I think the entire idea is founded then built on "her will be done".

    Man shutting up now. :lurk

I wish I had the leisure time to browse all the forums, but I don't. I like having women's ride reports in this forum, otherwise I would probably miss them.

A link directing people over to this forum could always be posted in other relevant forums.

What I enjoyed about the MSF...Is they wanted you to learn..They wanted you to pass...
NO yelling or getting upset with the gals due to not understanding...
I had my NightHawk bewfore I took the course ...
Don ONLY showed me how to start and shift to first and feel the clutch engage.. And go 45' stop and doggie it back to the end of the barn..And do it again... As he said he didn't want to teach me his bad habits..
Ya got to love him for that !!:thumb :clap Ok you don't ... LOL...

Awesome! Welcome!! :clap Where do you live and what do you ride? There's a great group of supportive women on ADV, and if you're anywhere in the PNW, we have a pretty big circle with lots of fun stuff planned this summer! :thumb Tell us about yourself! :D

+1 on what LadyBug had to say!!

And MoBill, I just got into riding myself back in August. I had been content to ride on the back of my boyfriend's R1150RT for several years. We took an awesome trip to Alaska, and rented a Buell Ulysses and ran into a couple each riding their own bikes from Anchorage area all the way to Seattle. Anyway, seeing the woman on her own bike, looking pretty bad ass :clap was the encouragement I needed. As soon as we got home, I signed up for the MSF class, and had my own bike a week later :D (AKLiz, if you check this site, thanks for the inspiration, and I hope you and your hubbie had a fantastic trip!!)

That's why some of us like to post here....
With my dial-up it takes a long time to do things on the web...
You at least like to know they enjoyed you posting your efforts and the time to post it...

Hey, who you callin' old?! :lol3

Ya know, its nice to have the guys posting about their wives and girlfriends' experiences. I learned from Silent Bob, Ladybug, and a long time friend with a cool Harley (and then rode around illegally for awhile before taking the MSF class - bad me, but I must say those three taught me right so there weren't a bunch of bad habits to overcome!), and before they came in to my life, I never would have considered riding a bike. I am so grateful now because I'm loving it, and have found a bunch of new riding buddies as a result of their getting me involved (including two women in my area that are fast becoming great friends!). So ... I think its really cool you're here and sharing the experiences of other women you know :clap

Do you know my husband? That is one of the reasons he wanted me to get one. I believe the gas mileage was an excuse

I live in Hamilton Ontario. I currently ride a 1985 Honda Nighthawk CB650SC. I am purchasing a new R1200R in the spring. I plan to do a lot more motorcycle trips over the next few years so I wanted a bike that would be a nice all purpose bike. I have been researching for about a year. Of course being vertically challenged has made the choices a bit limited. With the 2009 Beemer having the low option I figured that I have to go for it!

You'll love the R1200R. I have an '05 R1150R right now and am babysitting an R1200R until next month. It's one of the best balanced bikes out there I think. I've traveled many miles on mine and envision many more in the years to come. My latest ride is listed in my sig line: Roamin' the Rockies. 11 weeks of riding, fishing, and wilderness camping from the tip of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona all the way up through Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho, with a weekend stop over in the SE corner of Montana after some mechanical problems. :D Oh - and a week long 'shake down' trip to Arkansas as well.

Good luck with the 1200. Too bad it's winter. I can imagine you will want to put some miles on the new bike as soon as you can. Have fun.

I say post the RR in the RR forum, and put a link to it here.

I have to admit that I completely forgot about this thread, and I even have a few ride reports that I've done over in the RR section.

My trip to Albuquerque back in the spring
My trip to Texas Memorial day weekend.
My trip to the AZ Moto Diva ralley in October <-- not complete yet... yeah, I know I'm a slacker. :D
