Neduro.... your spot on.(didn't mean to pun but ok it works). We have roadbooks for west texas as well as a loop ride into mexico from there...

we were checking into an event but way to much work and cost..

We actually will be putting on a "DS ride" with a road book using the spot trackers for unmanned check points and tracking..

    Like you say.. the possibilities!!!

Another one of my good dual sport motorcycle racing friends, Damon Powell, sent me these scanned photos of the 1995 Nevada Rally. Most of these are from the parking lot of the Montgomery Ward where we had the Prologue race.

That may be true but the same goes for the Australian Safari, heaps of red & green tape Octagon the organisers have to go through to make it happen, both at the government and local landholder levels

...................guess it's all about the will to make it happen.

Sure would be good though, as Ludo said I reckon heaps of internationals would come over for it, me for one as well. Never been to the old USofA so would be a great excuse.

    Make it happen guys :nod

There's a LOT of red tape here, Garry, unfortunately. I'm not an expert on the matter, but I've heard those in the know talk about land use impact studies and the like being necessary before the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) to even consider permitting an activity on public lands. Anyone can see the trend of public lands closing to motorized use and surmise what the likely result of any such impact study would be.

The ridiculous total-lack-of-personal-responsibility/I'll-sue-you-for-any-old-damn-thing culture here is a huge hurdle in accessing private lands.

I sympathise greatly for sure, its the exact same reason we lost Day 1 of a 2 day event with the Yilgarn Rallye this year :cry :cry :cry

Okay fine! Tim's body position looks way better than mine and he flew at least 10 feet farther!

#83 is Damon Powell aka: Team Dual Dogs, great guy. I remember Andrew Horton working out of the bike junkyard over by Burbank Airport. I built a bunch of XR muffler end caps for him. What ever happened to Andrew??

Seemed like Andy kept Four Strokes Only going for quite a while one way or the other. Not sure at all what he's up to lately. I pretty much never do Facebook anymore but he is one of my friends on Facebook, as is Damon, but I never really interact with him there.
Damon did the Nevada Rally twice. His preferred message board avatar is of him in a cool rear end drift at the 1994 Rally prologue on the ATK he got from the factory. Damon is another guy who loves long-distance rallies and doing big miles.
