Looking for anyone who rides Trials in the Grand Junction Area.....
I can`t think of anyone that far west in Colorado. Most of the riding is around Cannon City on HWY 50. Quite a few riders from the west side ride with NMTA. We are back at Sipapu this weekend!
And just think. Grand Junction is one of those heavenly places with darned near maximum gorgeous things to do outdoors any direction of the compass! I was just out there riding the big dualsports with my wife. Of for another life to set up in GJ and explore!
I've good friends there, but they ride road and those pricey orange things in the BLM. There a bit too old to convert to trials. But gosh, surely there's someone there? You could start a club there!
There used to be a goin' club there in the '70's & '80's . Thats where I learned to ride trials . It was the "Western Colorado Trials Association " WCTA . In those days there was endless riding , could go & set up an event anywhere . Obviously those days are long gone & part of the reason the club died out ... along with the oil shale bust in the early '80's that killed the town . Alot of the original riders are still there tho gettin' quite old ! Theres been attempts to reorganize but the ransom BLM wants to hold an event makes it impossible . Someone has private land at De Beque but don't know if anything has ever come of that . I rode an event at San Yo in 2011 & from there spent a week in GJ visiting old friends , one who lives at the base of the Book Cliffs & had a ball riding that country again .
Thanks Guys, Hey Lineaway,
My Daughter Kailey has started at Colorado MESA, She has her bike with and she said she would rather try to find someone that rides trials and train with them, most of the RMTA are on the East side, I really dont want her commuting 4 hrs over the hill to that all the time,
So just looking for an inmate here that would be able to help her out....
Thanks guys !!!
Ron, Moab is 1.5 hours from GJ and she doesn't have to drive over the mole hills. Of course Moab will do nothing for her trials skills, when she comes back to IL to ride the mud and logs.
She has been going to Moab for about 10 yrs, I am more interested in the safety factor and being with someone who can help if any issues occur.
I have lots of friends in Moab, But none who ride trials..
She would like to hit some of the local events, but with school and alone and a girl..... Well you know ( Its the Dad thing ) :eek1
We just had a lil trials exhibition here in montrose, I ride one but not that well
One more and it's a club!
