It has xr kicker on it now and it doesn't clear the foot peg. Pm me if you know of one.
You will find one on ebay.
If you don`t find one. You might rig a holder spring off the frame.
That was my first thought too. None on ebay right now but keep checking.
tried it and it still wont clear, ive been pulling pin out and kicking it and then putting foot peg back on after it runs a bit... ive broken the peg clear off before i figured out it was the kicker arm itself.
Did you know they usually go for $400-$500? We have two TL250's. The dished rear sprocket on the first one was worth what we paid for the entire bike, and the kick start arm on the second one was worth what we paid for that entire bike.
find a spare one of those kickers, like you already have, heat it and bend it?
Since those old honda's (quote) are such great +++easy+++ starting bikes and everyone wants one... should be an easy fix (/stop laughing and end quote).
however, before you light the smoke wrench, I would have a spare handy, just sayin...
When I got the bike it came with two full boxes of factory honda gaskets seals and new rear sprocket. What's funny is I bought it to sell and have advertised it 3 times. And had it traded twice !! Its in better mechanical condition than 90% of all them I have seen. So I guess I'm? Going to mod it for competition and keep it.
Firstly work out how far kickstart needs to be bent to clear folded up rest. Then holding it tightly in a vice heat to cherry red with oxy acetylene flame, and move it the required amount using a copper/hide hammer. This shouldnt take more than 30 minutes, and will work in almost all cases, as long as the kickstart shape isnt too far out. If it is, then look for more suitable lever from another model Honda, which will fit the knuckle you have already/
digging through boxes of parts i came across an old foot peg off of a xr 250, its narrow like the TL peg but about an inch longer..
so since i need to fix the poorly repaired mount im thinking I will will fab a new mount lower and offset to the inside enough that i can use the longer peg and use a spring to hold it out of the way of the kicker such as the TL125s had..

Best Bet old buddy, is to move the pegs back at least 1 inch, and down 1 or 2 (just not below the "plane" of the skidplate). This might still allow you to flip peg up to kick. Do NOT try to make the pegs narrower (outside TIP of peg to other peg's Tip, if you know what I mean). also more comfortable for your feet are when the peg themselves, measure (in the neighborhood of) 2.5 or less inches front to back, where your feet ride on them, IMHO. skinnier than that, makes my arches hurt anymore.

LarryDawg, Please take pictures if you can. I'm a sucker for the big ol' tanks and would like to see how this turns out.
I was looking at the S3 Hard Rock pegs that have shims to move them forward or back, they're a little pricey, but maybe they'll fit the TL250 mounts. The pegs off my GasGas are just a little too wide to fit the TL.
