How exactly did you pair the three devices? Zumo to phone and then Sena to phone or the Zumo?
With the 4.0 firmware upgrade, you can now pair the Sena to both the Zumo and the iPhone at the same time. The Sena now can see that the iPhone is using the Zumo for the headset profile so it then connects to the iPhone only in the AVRCP. This lets me play and control both my music library and Pandora.
The Sena now has voice prompts that announce that it has connected in two different ways. It says, 'connected to headset" and "connected to media". Or something to that effect.
No problem. I work in Information Security. My job is to find ways to "get to data" as part of protecting it.
Most companies would click that box on the web server that says "do not allow directory browsing" .
By allowing directory browsing, I can only assume they want us to see that data
Proceed with caution, Mac users. I downloaded the Mac version of the device manager and it was clunky and failed. The app tried to connect to the SMH-10, asked for root level access and then lost the connection. I could not get it to connect again, even after restarting the computer. The Quit command did not work either. I had to force quit.
I tried v4.0 install on a pc and it too did not go without a hitch. At the end it asks you to press and hold the jog dial and phone buttons until a pop up message disappears. My message never disappeared after several minutes of holding the buttons. I re-connected and it indicated v4.0 installation.
I hope my experience is atypical but I wonder if these are not quite ready for release.
I think I have seen this one before on Windows XP on an Eee machine. I can't even get any of them to run on my Dell 5110 with intel I5 and windoze 7 64 bit.
But still, looking forward to trying version 4.
I am using an older Dell Inspiron. I think the upgrade was successful. I was able to pair to the Iphone, and will try the Zumo in the morning. It might be my imagination because it's late in the day, but the phone volume was noticeably lower than the music when I tested through the SMH-10.
Brilliant. Followed the link to the secret Sena software and downloaded the Mac manager and the 4.0 image.
Tried to upgrade using the Mac software but it would not recognize my
Downloaded the x64 version and booted up a virtual Win7 and it upgraded no problem. Went from v3.0 to v4.0.
Might be warm enough to ride tomorrow, so I'll check it out then.
Yeah, I had that "hold the jog dial and phone buttons" thing happen to me to.
When I restarted the program it said it had upgraded to the latest version of the software, so here's to hoping all went well...
So, has anyone noticed a louder phone ring tone with 4.0?
I tested v4. this morning. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but it is wonky. I got to the point where I got my Iphone's music through the Sena and the Zumo's directions through the Sena simultaneously. The connection is what I'd call "shaky." The music does not consistently return after the nav instructions play. And there's a fair amount of crackling noise as the unit goes from phone to GPS.
Biggest problem is the phone. Two out of three incoming calls did not trigger the ringer; music kept playing, the "incoming call" message flashed and disappeared on the Zumo's screen. Third incoming call connected but music did not resume once the call terminated. Same with an outgoing call: touching jog dial to hang up terminated the call but music did not resume.
The music cuts in and out, even with just the navigator active. It's like it is losing the connection and re-establishing it. Yes, there are voice prompts = Hello, Phone Connected, Media Connected. Did not get one for the GPS.
Having said all that, it's possible I did not pair correctly. Here is what I did:
1) Zumo and Iphone paired such that the Iphone is listed under the Zumo's "Phone" BT screen
2) Iphone and Sena paired. My Iphone reflects Sena v4.0
3) Sena and Zumo paired such that the Sena is listed under "Audio" on the Zumo's BT screen. Following an earlier poster's suggestion, I turned on the GPS and phone first, then the Sena
4) My Iphone shows pairing to both the Sena and Zumo.
I have a feeling the pairing is incorrect. Not sure. We want the Sena to get input from both devices and I suppose we want the phone and GPS paired so you can work the phone from the GPS screen....right?
Is V4.0 "officially" released yet?
Maybe the version that is on the "unoffical" website is a beta?
I really am going to enjoy the voice-prompting instead of the tones!
Here's how I do mine...
1. Pair the iPhone to the Zumo 660
2. Pair the Zumo 660 to the Sena
3. DO NOT pair the iPhone to the Sena!
When my Zumo 660 and phone are both on I see my phone's address book on the Zumo 660, can place and answer calls from the Zumo 660, and hear the phone and Zumo 600 prompts just fine. I put music into folders on a microSD (making playlists is easy... you can find instructions on ZumoForums.com) and control music using the Zumo's music player. And since I usually keep my iPhone in my pocket (didn't see the point of a cradle for the iPhone when the Zumo 660 is already mounted) I don't need to see the damned thing. The Zumo does the rest... simple.
Are you talking about Version 4 of the firmware or 3.x?
My post was regarding version 4 of the firmware which purportedly lets you get the music and phone functions without having to put mp3 files onto the Zumo. Version 4 reportedly allows dual pairing. For that to work, the phone would need to be paired to the Sena one way or another.
Question: Where did you download V4 from? Can't find it anywhere. Got a link?
Look on the previous page of this thread. There's a link to a Sena page that has various download files. It is not the "Official" software download page, but a back door. There's a couple of new files there (a Mac version of device manager and v4.0 of firmware for the SMH-10) but they may be beta tests. At least two of us had problems with the Mac software.
I'm just an observer here and don't have any of these to test, but I was thinking what was supposed to be updated with V4 with the Sena is that there are now two HFP's BT profiles available where there was only one before. One of these should be available for the GPS as always and the other for the actual talking on your phone. Your iPhone should actually pair with two profiles to Sena, the HFP for phone and the A2DP/AVRCP for music which it probably is with the V4 as it shows. So technically, you shouldn't have the iPhone and Zumo paired at all as this is another connection you shouldn't need. That should give you total voice control over your iPhone, hear music from your iPhone, and hear navigation instructions from the Zumo all controlled by the Sena. You shouldn't need anything paired through the Zumo. What might actually be happening is that you are paired to both the Zumo and the Sena for headset profiles and they aren't playing nice together.
I would try that and see what happens. Break all previous parings and start over.
Also, since this V4 wasn't officially released, its probably pretty likely it might have certain bugs in it still.
That makes sense. I'll give it a whirl.
I installed the v4 on 2 SMH10's. All functions see to work, EXCEPT, the intercom mic levels seem to be way down. Can't see anyway to increase the mic gain with the SMH10 Manager. Even with the volume control WIDE OPEN I can hardly hear the other party via the intercom function. Did not have this issue with v 3.3. Doesn't appear to be a volume output issue, cause the volume level from my Droid to the SMH10, seems to be fine.
I also noticed what I think is another setting. I saw 2 different VOX settings, can't recall if that was there before.
I also neglected to get in on the upgrade program, and have three units I'd like to upgrade. The Sena site lists the control box solo for $150, more than I paid for the entire kit originally. Is there a better-priced source? If not I'll just get the full kit on Amazon ($180 shipped) and sell my old control box with the new headsets on eBay.
