I want to but will have to see how the week shakes out. Just bought a WR250R for Neth and am planning to camp and ride with him sometime in Oct.

Please keep me posted either here or PM of your plans and hopefully I can meet up with y'all.

    Thx...nlp

So I'm thinking of coming to Long Pool. I only have a street bike right now. Anyone else going to ride pavement?

Bo did lay out a big bike track as well as a small bike track. I would guess there will be some big bikes attending. Hopefully those folks will respond to your post.

Your wish is my command! Here are the tracks for the Long Pool Event. I included some tracks for Mocassin Gap as well. You will need to get a ticket at the Horse Camp Trail Head before entering the Mocassin Gap Trails. They are in a box at the entrance to the Horse Camp which I have marked on the track. Macks Pines does not have the tickets any longer. I guess the LEO's that patrol this area are getting pretty tough on people not having paid their dues. It is only three dollars for a day pass. I am hoping to get there and ride those trails on Friday. Hope to see you all there.

My son has a football game Thursday late afternoon in Clarksville. I plan to be loaded and leave from there to Long Pool. Planning to ride the trails Friday and the ride Sat. Of course. Bringing the DR and Beta 300.

I plan on riding up early Friday morning. Unless someone else has a better idea I was going to ride the Mocassin Gap trails. My plan is to trailer the bike to Horse Camp trailhead which is marked on the Mocassin Gap track and unload there. Bo says the Horse Camp is actually down the trail a ways but the icon on the map is where we need to park and get permits. The permit packs are located in mail boxes similar to the campground and you have to have a permit to ride the trails. The cost is $3.00. You can park at Macks Pines as well but they charge a $5.00 day parking fee. Permits are not available at Macks Pines any longer. There is an outdoor pavilion at the trailhead that we could come back to and eat a sack lunch there or go a couple miles down Hwy 7 to Macks Pines and eat at the restaurant. If anyone has a better or another idea let me know. As Andy mentioned it would be helpful to post up if you are planning to attend.

Can you not pay for the trails and get the permit at Long Pool? I will be camping at Long Pool Thursday and Friday night . Quite a ways around to the horse camp from Long Pool. Shorter if you get there on the trails, but assume you are at risk of a ticket if you do that. Surely the permits are available at Long Pool....I hope. Otherwise I guess I’ll ride the road on DR to pick up a permit early Friday morning. My Beta is tagged, but my issue is fuel range on the 2 stroke.

Do we need the permit on Saturday as well? Any part of the track on those trails?

Permits can only be purchased at the kiosk at the Moccasin Gap trail head, about 2 miles north of Mack's Pines. There are actually two kiosks. There is one at the top of the hill as you come up the road from Hwy 7. If you keep going to straight past that one, there is another one just before the two, large parking areas. The parking area on the right is for the equestrian folks and the one on the left is for the motorized folks. If you enter the trail system from any of the other 5 or 6 access points without a permit and the ranger stops you, he will not accept your excuse that you were riding through to get your permit.

Glad to hear you are going to make the ride. Lookin forward to riding with you again. The track for Saturday does not enter Mocassin Gap! If you want to ride it on Saturday on our way back when we hit Hwy 7 you can just go south and enter where the Horse Trail icon is.

The main ride is on Saturday! Friday is just a warm up for the main track Small Bike or Big Bike on Saturday.

Why doesn't someone just go up and get some permits Friday (or earlier) and bring them back to LP for the riders to fill out with $, then have someone take them all back up to MG Saturday morning before the riders get there. I'm planning to that for the ABFAR.

Not a bad idea if we were going to ride Mocassin Gap on Saturday. The track that Bo laid out originally had Mocassin Gap at the end of our Saturday track but after preriding it we decided it was probably too much for one day. I posted the track of MC for those who wanted to ride it Friday and those that did not and wanted to ride it Saturday would have the track and could do so if they were up to it at the end of the day on Saturday.
