The published camping info for Withrow Springs says that each site can accommodate a RV and a tent. I am pretty sure the last time we camped there we had two tents to a site so I would think that would still be the case. I will have the toy hauler so someone can pitch a tent on my spot which I do not have reserved yet. I tried to call them today but the phone was always busy. :norton

Well hope you can make it. Looks as though there may be 4 to five of us from the central part coming in. Tom has a new toy hauler/camping rig so we dont ride in for a hundred miles, ride all day and then hit the miles back home right away. After the lake Sylivia Ride I couldn't get home fast enough. My ass was so sore from sweating all day I rode over 80mph standing on the pegs down the slab. People probably thought I was a nutjob. And appreciate helping a "man in need" I guess I coulda worked off the tab washing dishes or something there.

No need to make an entry. Just keep an eye on this thread about 2 weeks prior and everyone will start chiming in, on who's planning to attend, routes, accommodations, etc... I'm planning to make Long Pool myself.

Where in Central AR are you?

I am from west of Sherwood. What do you ride? I commute on a BMW F650GS and Triumph StRiple, nearly every day into NLR.

Dualsports alternate between a '95 KLX650R and a '91 XR250L, and sometimes like to tool around town on an old '74 R60/6. Never met a bike a didn't like.

I plan on being there fairly early on Friday to ride. I will have something lined out that we can ride. I am glad to hear you are going to join us. See you there. BTW I have site #12 and have room for a tent if someone wants to share that site with me. :norton

I hauled the bike over to Kingston and prerode a good part of the dayride for the upcoming camping event. Unloaded the bike at the gas station and left my truck there. I just couldn't see riding the posterior knumbing asphalt over there not to mention the wear and tear on my tires. Put a D606 on the rear of the 4fiddy and was anxious to see what kind of differerence that might make in how the bike handled. I have a few videos to give you a flavor of some of the route.

From Kingston the first vid is Stoverville Rd. Going downhill this time. For some reason I haven't done that much.

I stopped and checked out the Buffalo River Access at Ponca. Not much water running at the moment. Creeks are all pretty dry.

Crossed the Buffalo River there off of Hwy 43 close to Lost Valley State Park and up CR-8105.

Rode south down Daniels Ridge Road to the Big Piney Creek and looped back up to Deer. I rode down Parkers Ridge Road from there to Ozone.

    <iframe width="960" height="540" src="http://contour.com/stories/parker-ridge-road--2/embed?map=false&width=960px&height=540px" frameborder="0"></iframe>

This is either the East Fork of the Little Buffalo or Walnut Creek, I am not sure which.

From Deer I went south on Parkers Ridge Road and crossed the Big Piney Creek and Fs-5550 to Ozone. Met a couple of couples at the Burger Barn from Sikeston, MO who were spendin the weekend riding in the Ozarks. One of the wives kept saying 'Honey, you didn't tell me the roads were going to be this winding!' She acted like she didn't much care for it. That was about 1 pm or a little after. I see Albie and the farewell tour were there at some point. I must have just missed therm.

The route goes west from Ozone and north on Fs-1425A. I was getting low on fuel so I took the most direct route to Oark but I did stop and make sure the gate at the Mullberry River Crossing was still operable and not locked.

    <iframe width="960" height="540" src="http://contour.com/stories/mulberry-river-xing/embed?map=false&width=960px&height=540px" frameborder="0"></iframe>

From Oark I headed north from Catalpa and wanted to check out Fs-1453 that crosses the Little Buffalo at Dixon Ford. I rode that north and then took the shortest route on dirt back to Kingston. I took off from there a little after 10 am and got back about 4:30 pm.

This should give you a pretty good idea of the most interesting parts. There is plenty of twisty county road as well for getting some air and enjoying the sites. This should be a fun ride. The temperature looks to be awesome for this weekend. Now if it will just rain a little Thursday or Friday we will be sittin pretty. I will post up the route tonight on the AR SLAP Tracks thread. Hope to see a bunch of you there. :norton

What's your read on big bikes for this trip? The 950 is my only option as the Husky is down with that oil-eating bug that seems to be going around (right Craig?)

Annoying question No. 2: What time is blast off Saturday morning? Friday is the daughter's b-day so I should do the good dad thing and not leave for the weekend. But I figure I can sneak out early Saturday and get in on the good times.

I have included a bit more technical stuff in this route but nothing compared to what you rode at WestFest. Knowing you there should not be a problem with the 950.

We usually say that we will leave the park at 8:00 am but it usually ends up more like 8:30. If as many people show up as indicated there is a good chance we will be riding in two groups like we did at Lake Sylvia. So with that in mind call me or Earl of someone you know is there if you think you will be rollin in later than that. :norton

It looks like the MS crew will be made up of 3 KTM 990's and 2 Tiger 800's.
    Looking forward to seeing everyone.
