Well glad to hear Kris is gonna get to make it after all.
While you are waiting for Kris, I HIGHLY recommend taking a run up on Gold Camp Road (CR 8) (between the Broadmore Hotel near Ft Carson going west all the way over to Victor. You have plenty of time, and the road has a great history as an old railway! The top picture I shot when I was out there this summer, the bottom was from the rail days.
Just found out that the new version of Basecamp can take pictures shot from a non geotagging camera and add the geotags using time stamps and the track uploaded from your GPS. It's part of the new Adventure feature. Way cool!!
...and I thought the Humpday swillin' thread was dead. Earth to ADV.....hello?
Are we all depressed because Ted is gone?
FYI, The Little Rock Air Show is this weekend. The event is free and certainly family friendly.
That leaves a lot of this bunch out
Hey everybody hubba bubba's is going to be opening on saturdays starting this saturday !!!
We are going to have pie !!!
Heard the tunnel closest to Victor calapsed quite awhile ago but still a keel road!
It did collapse, but they repaired it (actually, a historical restoration) and it opened in 2011. The picture of that beautiful wall was after I went through it! Below is a portion of the sign at the tunnel, and the entrance from the east. I went all the way from Colorado Springs to Victor outskirts on Gold Camp Rd.
Wife and I will be doing Phantom Canyon/Gold Camp Road over to Colorado Springs this Sunday and returning via Gold Camp Road/Shelf-Red Canyon Road on Monday!
Then it's off to Pitkin for three days of riding out of there.... then over too Crested Butte for some more riding... then...
We're so excited we're about to pee our pants!!!
I'm jealous!! Phantom Canyon road is sweet too, I had fun there. Make sure to make the appropriate jestures when you ride by nipple mountain! (your wife will certainly appreciate it).
I didn't get on CR 9 (Shelf/Red Canyon) road, my trip got cut short, but that also looked fun. These roads were my speed, not technical, and almost desserted even at the end of July. You should be alone by now out there!! Great stuff.
Ride safe and have fun!
