Tried to help son with his truck today, snapped a head bolt, and its rusted/corroded/siezed to the valve rocker assembly.

Cant even remove the head to get to the shank of the broken bolt, not sure how to procceed, but feeling pretty glum over here.

    :cry

todays score: car -1, son and me-0

Been raining here since about 2pm yesterday. Not a real hard rain, but consistent. The lakes are sure staying full this year. If we get a good snow this winter then springtime is gonna be set for flooding.

Oughta make for some great creek crossings. :thumb

when I had to drill out my busted motor mount bolts, I went to Grainger Tools and got me a couple of left twist drills..on one of the bolts, the drill did bite the busted bolt and backed it out..but on the other ones, they had to be time serted out..good luck!

this one is rusted/corroded in there, the torque spec is only 58 lbs on the headbolts, that one took well over 200 before snapping.

The biggest issue is that its stuck to the rocker assembly ABOVE the cylinder head.

I might have to cut the rocker assembly apart , just to get the head off, then ive got several inches of head bolt sticking up proud, that i can get a good purchase on.

But im destroying the rocker assembly to get there, assuming I can even do that without damaging the cylinder head.

Id buy a whole engine if i could find one.

Holy begeezus you need to change the oil more often than once ever 100,000 miles. :D

Nah just bustin yer balls. Man I dunno, that looks like a tough one. I'm not sure if an ex-out would grab that sucker or not.

Soak that sucker a week with PB Blster and use some heat some too probably, and hope you can get a bite on it with something.

Kroil, let it penetrate and if it will still start get it warm. If it won't find an alternate heat source. Kroil is the Shiznits in power plants. We can run a 2 year cycle and kroil will get most things loose.
