It's hard telling how long things will last. If you bring Bubba Ho Tep it could go a long time. If Mouth brings The Beast we could put a saddle on him, velcro Levon into the saddle and let them both loose chasing deer into the woods. That'd keep them both busy a long time.

The situation was an embarrassment that lays at the feet of Frank Broyles and Houston Nutt. They made promises that they didn't keep and then everything spiraled form there. The lack of leadership at the UofA was reflected everywhere, including the way Nolan was fired. Frank Broyles orchestrated the demise of several successful UofA coaches and in this situation, Nutt was his lackey.

The outcry over whether Malzahn is a quality candidate is about as high school, as anything I've seen. Malazahn has won championships, everywhere he's coached, his record is undeniable and his coaching style is emulated on all levels of football. I was surprised when Bielema felt the need to critique Malzahn's coaching style, so early in his tenure at AR. I guess we now know who was right and who was wrong about the "hurry-up" vs "pound-n-ground" offense. Beilema even tried running the "hurry-up" offense this year, just to get a single win. Now that was embarrassing. :lol3 And those who degrade Malzahn's coaching success, as cover for their hatred of his faith are a bunch of cowards.

Everyone wants to win and we need a coach who can win with the talent available in AR and TX. Malzahn, Morris, Petrino, Venables, ??? Of these candidates there's clearly one that stands above the rest.

The basketball Hawgs play Houston tomorrow and that will be a huge test for this team. Pretty exciting time to be a Razorback. :clap

    meh

    Gus calzone is slimey

If he even gets considered by the UofA I would not only be surprised but very disappointed.

As I said it would be the last I ever pay attention to Hog football.

Broyles did a lot, he also made plenty of mistakes
jeff longs termination was pre mature and in my opinion more punative than logical, the same good ole boy network that wanted retribution for a bad season with his head on a pole is the same group that put us in this awkward situation with no coach no AD and no plan

The over lap between that group and the group that wants MR slimey seems to be large.

The whole Malzahn thing predates my time here so I don't really have a feel for it. Seems like much ado about nothing, but what the hell do I know? What I do know is that paying coaches almost $5 million a year, even to fire them, then hiking tuition on students year after year, and notching up health insurance for employees (ahem) every damn year really pisses me off. Yes, I've heard the line about athletics paying for itself. But it sure is funny how easily the board comes up with $178 million to build a cathedral to a losing football team and then sings "we're too poor" when faculty and staff want something.

faculty and staff are funded by state dollars ( tax revenue mostly Id guess, maybe some federal funding)

athletics is funded by the "foundation" which is a nice and clean way of saying laundered money haha - I do not mean ill gotten, but since its not tax/federal money there are fewer regulations on how it is spent or controlled...

they are two different pots from what I understand, the BOT and chancellor have to pretty much beg the state legislators for any increase, and to justify what they do currently get

Exactly. Budgets reflect priorities, and it's pretty clear where their priorities are.

If their priority has been football I’d say they have fallen pretty short!

In all fairness, Broyles didn't want to hire Hooty. He wanted Tubbs. GOBN forced the hire.

I like Kiffen and Norvell over all of those guys. Hell, I'd take the Pirate over Morris, Petrino, and Venables.

Well, if people gave a big enough shit about donating their money to the University rather than the Foundation, you probably wouldn't have anything to whine about. As it is, the Foundation is the one that got the 50 Mil in donations last year. The board isn't spending University money, they're spending Foundation money. Guess if you want to blame someone, you need to blame those big money boosters (some of who are on that board) who would rather have a winning football team rather than some more broke ass fuckers being able to enroll, or staff members getting better insurance. They are also the ones that are going to pay the big dollars to sit in those boxes that the renovation created.

I have no idea what dishes people are bringing to Xmas Swill today so if there's anything that is likely needed, let me know. Sounds like the meat part is covered.

Hope you guys had a good Christmas/Kwanzaa/Cthulhumas party. Wife and I drove to Lee Creek Reservoir outside of Van Buren and hiked the 'Crack in the Rock' trail. Many buttcrack jokes were... cracked.

We then drove into Ft. Smith to watch Benjamin's final BEST robotics competition. Their team almost made the finals, they came in 5th place.
