I work with a large variety of folks. A couple of the guys here are British, and one of the British guys walk through my area every day, to take a smoke break. He appears to be in his early sixties.

Today I asked him if he was a Rocker or a Mod. His eyes lit up and he answered that he was a Mod. He told me about the scooters he had and the motorcycles that he had owned. He told me that that was a really great time to be growing up. He told me that by the time he had graduated from scooters to "proper" motorcycles that the Rocker/Mod fad had faded.

He now has a 750 Kawasaki twin, but in the few years I have been here, he has not ridden it to work. I have been trying to get him to ride, might get him fired up one of these days. Anyway, I just wanted to share that, it was kind of funny the way he quickly answered that he was a Mod. It is always fun to listen to people's experiences, or at least I think so.

I would have to go with Mod. I like both bikes and scoots but like Mod music, which tips it......

Same here. I don't really care about the bike I'm riding or what type of bike, I'll ride anything and either ways cool with me.

I sure wouldn't mind being at that fight either:evil.

    Rocker or Mod?

Let the picture tell the story......

    Thinking of this one.....

Seeing I'll be riding this one most of the time....

So what would I be considered?

I hate chrome, Not much for additional lights, although those "twin Deer Jackers" headlights are cool.

I'm not a Rocker, not a Mod, just a red blooded American who is a non conformist I guess.

    Like the Possum Lodge Oath:

I'm a man, and I can change, if I have to, I guess.

You, sir, are a man with good taste in scooters I think. I had a little Ruck for a few years. But I've always liked the Big Ruckus. Dam shame Honda dropped it. I'm an old motorcyclist, but recently started riding scooters.

But, since I don't know what the hell a Mod or Rocker is, I'm guess I'm in limbo. Maybe I'm too old to get it (57)??

Wow, beautiful scoot and great picture! I am looking into a new Harley this year, but a maxi scooter will definitely be following the Harley, maybe 2012 or 2013! I keep looking at a bunch of them, but the Silverwing seems to be one of the best all around maxi scooter. Plenty of power, comfort, fun and a great all around machine. The only minus to it is lack of selectable gear ratios unlike on the Burgman 650 and bad gas milage like all 600 class maxis. But then again, some really enjoy the nice smooth simplicity of the transmission on the Silverwing, and many do prefer it over the Burgman.

    But real nice scoot!

Imho this is an artificially (british) discrimination and has no meaning in the real scooter world (99.999% continental Eurasia).:evil

alicethomas, your opinion is a little off target but close.

This thread isn't discrimination, it's just some folks having fun.

Discrimination would be the Moderators banning you from the forum for your thoughts, race, creed, or religion. I've been down this "you're discriminating" BS road many times, and quite truthfully it's a line of crap because some pansy-mama's boy couldn't handle being with the big boys.

The 60's had some good stuff, and some crappy stuff. Unfortunately the British are so anal retentive about being so high strung over certain things that they appear to be lame or behind the times.

I will say they do have some good TV shows at times.

Rocker-Mod, I'm neither. I'm who I am, and can hold my own thanks to the way life and society has made me.

Don't start no trouble, there won't be no trouble.

Probably I used a wrong word. I didn't meant a penalization of a certain group.
Just an (imho) unreasonable distinction, only meaningful in respect to a certain decade on a "small" island. I even don't know any translation of "Mod" into another language - it has no meaning.
How could a randomly choosen African/Asian/(South-)European... rider be classified?
