My father and his pals did some long trips in the 1940's and 50's on Triumphs, Brough Superior SS100 and Sunbeams and I have just put the pics of his 53 trip on-line. Whilst helmets were not required a jacket and tie was - English Gentlemen doing some early adventure riding. Most of the alpine passes were still dirt roads at the time. I hope you like the pics, see - http://www.go-faster.com/SS100.html

they took more movie film than still photos, sadly the films are long gone.

Simply fantastic from so many perspectives. The era, the bikes, the gear, the adventure. Look at the cars -- sweet looking Mercedes and a Citroen jumped out. The freakin' airplane! And on and on .... Thank you for sharing.

well done !!! Thank you !
It would be nice at the National Museum if they had a display like this, showing UK riders with their bikes in use, the static displays of bikes are great but they are only part of the story, the other being riders such as your father.

Thanks again from another Triumph fan ( T-100C )
