    Day 16
Nelson - MT Gambier - Nelson
We had 2 nights booked in Nelson Time to catch up on Laundry ect,
after sorting a few things out we went to explore the area.
First we went to see Piccaninni ponds
    [IMG]
    [IMG][IMG]
    The water was amazingly clear
From there we went to Ewan Ponds
Then to Port MacDonnell took a ride out onto the breakwater
    [IMG]
    Then to Nene valley
    [IMG]

The dirt roads around this area are the whitest and hardest I've ever experienced the locals do burn-outs here unfortunately most of the photos were overexposed
    [IMG]
Went out to the lighthouse the area is popular with the 4x4 crowd for beach driving
    [IMG]
    [IMG][IMG]

We went to Carpenter Rocks then through to Mt Gambier
    Bacon at the blue lake
    [IMG]
It was a weird day of weather after the previous days extreme heat, it started off cool then warmed up to 39 deg then dropped back down to the low 20's by mid afternoon as we headed back to Nelson

    Day 18
Victor Harbour - Murray Bridge via Adelaide
After yesterday we were wondering if all the roads in South Australia were straight. Bacon wanted some twisty roads and had his helmet on early
    [IMG]

we took off for Cape Jervis
    [IMG]
Great to find a good road.
From Cape Jervis we followed the coast up to McLaren Vale to see the wineries and olive groves
    [IMG]
We went through Chandlers hill, Coromandle valley, old Belair road to Adelaide then out via Millbrook to Gameracha, Birdwood, Williamstown then up to The Barossa valley Where the credit card took a big hit at some of the wineries.
the Roses at Grant Burge Estate
    [IMG]
After buying some wine to be shipped home it was back to Williamstown, Kersbrook, Castanbul,Athelstone, Marble Hill Balhannah and on to Mt Barker for the night or so we thought.
At Mt Barker we were told that there was no accommodation so we decided on a quick blat through to Murray bridge.
This was a mistake as we encountered one of SA's Finest in a very cleverly disguised un-marked Patrol car.
After a short conversation we were back on our way with a much lighter wallet and going a lot slower.
Bacon had a few unkind words to say about the fine.

I think that the bed springs on the beds went before the Great War we had to make some alterations before going to bed.
found a new use for Andy Strapz
    [IMG]
It was a big day but a great day and there are some great roads in South Australia.
Note to self when tired don't just think of the destination watch the speed especially on the Highway:baldy :baldy :baldy :baldy

    Then left South Australia
    [IMG]
    and crossed back into Victoria
    [IMG]
the sign post was covered in small dead shells I have no idea what causes this maybe some one here knows
    [IMG]
then it was off towards Horsham today we found this great piece of Aussie Christmas paddock decoration
    [IMG]
From Horsham to the Grampians Nat Park via Lah-Arum and Wartook and through to Halls Gap great road.

Egggggggselent! Consider me one demanding inmate, more please!

How about Willy Nelson's "On the Road Again", Beatles "Long and Winding Road", "Hit the Road Jack", "We're on the Road to Nowhere". Sorry, pretty unimaginative song suggestions.

BTW, in case anyone wants to know why we're taking a pig around the world on a motorcycle, it's because it's very much more difficult in a cage.

Coho911 that was great! I really enjoyed that video. You just can't help but smile at the little pink porker.

I vote for another installment video style. Can I also recommend 'Born to be wild' for a tune.

    Day 20
    Halls Gap to Melbourne
We were in need of a new rear tyre so we phoned ahead booked a new tyre and headed for Melbourne.
From Halls gap we headed out to Dunkeld to the south the forecast was for an extremely hot day so the plan was get going early, we overslept and only left at 7am.
In hindsight I'm glad we never left earlier as it was cool and there was a hoppy about every 500 meters. That road must be hell at night with the amount of animals that were still out between 7-8am.
A quick breakfast in Dunkeld and the worst cup of coffee I've had in years, the bacon and egg roll was tops.
From Dunkeld we took a mix of dirt and tar sections through to the coast via
Cobden and joined the Great ocean road at Port Campbell.
We stopped for lunch at Apollo Bay then headed toward Melbourne via Anglesea

Bacon had been here before with his dad on his first trip:clap :clap :clap

    Day 21
    Melbourne to Myrtleford
Dropped of the bike at Melbourne BMW for the new tyre they told me they would call when it was ready.
The extreme heat that was forecast for the day before had arrived, by 9 am it was 39 Deg Cel.
They called at 9.15 to say that the bike was ready, fantastic service given that I had only given them the bike at 8.40.
We packed the bike and headed out toward Warburton, it was stinking hot trying to get out of the city. Why is it when its hot, all the traffic lights get you :huh :huh :huh
We had an early lunch in Warburton then through a bucket of water over ourselves and headed up the Reefton spur what a great bit of road for a bike.
We stopped for a drink and another drenching at Marysville.
We had done 50 k'ms the we were bone dry temp reached 42 deg Cel:eek1 :eek1
Arrived at Alexandra and it was starting to cool from there we took the dirt passed Lake Eildon towards Bonny Doon. Ah the serenity.......
By the time we got to Mansfield the temp had droped down into the mid 20's
    what a relief.
From Mansfield it was the great section of tar through to Whitfeild then the dirt through to lake Buffalo.
They had been doing some road work through there and they had dummped a lot of loose stone and it was a little tricky in sections, It was a lot better when we went through there on our way to the Moto GP last October.
We ended up in Mertyleford What a top day even though it was so hot earlier.

    Day 22
    Myrtleford - Canberra
Headed out toward Albury via Taylors Gap then parallel to the Kewa valley Highway and took the new Wadonga bypass to Bellbridge.
We crossed the Murray at Belbridge and followed the river to Walwa the river had more water in it than I had seen in a log time.
Fuelled up at Walwa an took off for the mountians.
The dams of the snowy hydro scheme were nearly full
    [IMG]

After a quick stop for a top up of fuel at Cabrumarra we went passed Mt selwyn and on to Rules point.
We had planned to take the dirt through to Canberra via Brindabella, but took a wrong turn and ended up at blue water holes there were many 4X4's there and they told us the gates beyond were locked.
We had commitments that night in Canberra and it was late afternoon so we headed back the way we had come the through to Adamiaby and through Shannons flat to Tharwa and into Canberra.
We were late for the family dinner. So what riding comes first does'nt it.
We will do the Brindabella road this weekend.

    The push for home.
Final day... back to work soon :eek1 :eek1 :eek1 :eek1
We left Canberra toward Sutton then Gunning, Crookwell, Tuena,O'connell,
    Tarana.
    And then home into Sydney.
    Bacon with distance covered
    [IMG]
He now has his passport and will be heading overseas soon with Odeno
    [IMG]
But first he is going with us down to Collector tonight where we will hand the little fellow over to ATGREG who will take him to meet some hard core ADV inmates at the Limeburners Australia day get-together.
Bacon wishes all a happy Australia day
    [IMG]
Travel far and wide bacon and go home to Gazzafish one day.
We will remember our time fondly:cry :cry :cry :cry :cry
