That I pined on to him.
Do you think that if we put this thread sticky to the top of the ride report section, more people would see it and we could get bacon moving around the country? I would like to see the little guy really rack up some miles.
I'm heading down to Baja next week, I would love to take Bacon to Mexico
After some relaxing in the central California Mountains I'm finally back in the saddle again.
I am currently going north on I-5 towards Bakersfield where I will meet my new driver.
I think Bacon see his first snow, right? :eek1
So long Pine Mountain
A popular stop around here in the summer for motorcyclists is "Mad Bailey's" Pub or the "Screaming Squirrel" restaurant.
Lots of beautiful twists leads out of the mountain
To Interstate 5
The stretch of I-5 that goes through these mountains are called "The Ridge Route" and are part of the old road structure of the Spaniard's, connecting the coast to Fort Tejon.
We go I-5 north, down towards the Central Valley, and the road is now called "The Grapevine" from the vines that grow in the area or the way the Interstate twists like a grapevine
So long "Kilroy"
Well done Bacon.
You're route looks a good one. I'll be following it in June on my way from Phoenix to San Simeon to see Hurst Castle. Now that's a nice little place to rest for a travel weary pig!
Monkey wants to welcome you when you get to Northern Colorado. Monkey has a warm garage for your bike, too. Monkey and you can discuss your travels together and Monkey's travels have also been fairly extensive.
Toyanvil picked up Bacon from Kilroy Was Here on Friday, February 29
where he had a short ride back home. Although we didn't get to spend a lot of time with him, he did help us bake cookies,
pack for an overnight training,
played with the dog,
checked out some ADV,
he wanted to sit on the Bonne,
and then off to bed.
The next day Mrs. Toyanvil passed Bacon off to AlinBeaverton who was heading down to Baja.
So long Bacon, have a good journey.
Go Bacon GO!!!!!
Bacon arrived at the Hotel in the care of Mrs Toyanvil and her Mom. They also broght cookies which we enjoyed of the next couple of days.
Bacon getting ready to go in the morning
Checking out the scenery at Big Bear CA
Waiting for the rest of the group on the side of the road in Baja
Bacon giving Burt some advice on how to fix a flat, Burt didn't listen the first time and pinched the tube. Good thing there were plenty of spare tubes in the group.
Erica telling Bacon about her missing case lid, it disapeared after a gas stop.
Bacon and Lushbug hanging out.
On the road to Gonzaga Bay
After Crashing on the way to a mission outside of the Bay of LA Bacon was handed off to Ladybug. We didn't get any pictures of the hand off because I was worried about my banged up knee. The knee is fine now. Bacon is off to Death Valley and then to the Pacific Northwet. We had a good trip togethere and I will miss the little porker.
Good to see bacon back on another dakar. It was his very first ride and everyone knows how you feel about the first bike you ever rode..
Go Bacon....Go. He's already traveled further than me..
looks like all bacon needs is the helmet! Ride on Bacon, you pink pig you!
<hr style="color: rgb(87, 87, 87);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> Hi, Bacon here.
Well, Ladybug took me for a little ride with the group.
There was something on the menu I was wanting to try...
But somehow I was tricked:
Not bad, what was it???
OK, the hell with this, I'm getting outta here.
Well, they took me to 'Hog Lake'. Hmm, imagine that.
I guess the Dry Side isn't to bad after all....
Hey, does anyone have a fishing pole?
As you can see Bacon is alive and well and now in the beautiful Pacific Northwest (on the dry side). I still have custody of him but will be handing him off to TimF650GS on 4/5/08 at the Desert 100 in Odessa, WA
After Alinbeaverton handed Bacon off to me we have ridden Baja, Joshua Tree, Mojave Desert, Death Valley, Virginia City, NV and back up to the NW where we went for a ride to Hog lake with local ADVriders. Bacon has been a very busy pig and ohhhhhh so very popular.
Ride report and pictures coming soon, maybe later today.
We'll welcome Bacon to the WetSide of Pacific NWet with open arms. Mrs. TimF650GS has already plotted a sumptious non-pork meal for him to purge him of the indescretions foisted upon him at Rockford. Bacon needs some lovin'. More details to come and it might turn out to be a gathering.
Bacon had the opportunity to experience an XR650R near a mission close to the bay of L.A. in Baja Mexico
Before the ride
After the ride
Rumor has it that Bacon and Lushbug where seen enjoying a Moose Drool together in Ladybugs hot tub.....
I think Lushbug got him so worked up there was a Cannibalistic moment at breakfast ....
