We are in the Caribbean having a blast
And truth be told, I am just acting like a spoiled brat because I want everything to be perfect. But the world is not perfect no matter how much money you throw at it or how many stars your all inclusive resort has. And besides, I am having fun being a brat because I can.

If you recall, Kathe is a flight attendant (don't call her a stewardess) for LAN. And that means nearly free flights to almost anywhere in the world........with a catch. More on that later. She had a week off and we wanted to head somewhere warm. There are direct flights to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic from Lima. There were some empty seats on the plane so we headed off for some fun in the sun.

As luck would have it, we found 2 seats together for the 5 hour flight to Punta Cana.

We get to the resort. Kathe always likes to where these cute yet non functional high-heel shoes and as a result, she can't walk very fast. I was hungry and thirsty for an adult beverage and I was trying to get her to walk faster to the room so we could drop off the luggage and hit the restaurants and bars.
    And this was my solution........

With a name like that, you would think it would be great. And it had a 5 five star rating.
But as we found out......"all inclusive" doesn't mean you get everything you want.
This was my first time at an all inclusive resort.
I had been on cruise ships with free food, but never anywhere with free drinks.
I figured that everyone there would be drunk and having sex everywhere. But it turned out it was just my own personal impression that lived in my fantasy and imagination.
As it turned out, I think Kathe and I were the crazy ones there.

The resort had 8 restaurants to choose from. But my first let down was when they told us that we could only eat at the premium restaurants every other night. And on those odd nights, we had to eat at the buffet. And I was not happy with this. I asked to speak with the manager (who by the way got to know me on a first name basis). I told her it was BS that we could not eat where we wanted every night. And I even thru out the F bomb a few times. After all, we paid for an all inclusive resort at a Palace Deluxe Premium Hotel...........RIGHT???????
Well, I got my way and they "let" us eat where we wanted. But the fact that I had to go thru this process and get mad on my vacation was not right.
The next problem we encountered was at dinner. I was told that I could only order one appetizer and one entrée. Again, I pulled the manager aside and had to raise my voice and stomp my feet and only then was I allowed more food.
    There is more too.

Here we are at dinner the first night at the Japanese restaurant. Fortunately, the food was pretty good.

Well, the drinks were not exactly free..........sure they would pour you what ever you wanted. But the drinks were included in the price of the hotel.
    At the room was pricey.
    And not all was included.
    The premium drinks were extra.
To be fair to the hotel. there was some decent liquor that WAS included like Jack Daniels, Chivas Regal 12 year old Scotch, some 8 anos rum, Absolut vodka, etc.
But unfortunately for me, I don't like hard liquor. I like beer and wine. The only beer they had was Presidente from the island. It was ok. Just your typical light, easy drinking Cental American brew.
As for the wine...............it was SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I am talking HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Probably easily in top three worst wines I have ever had. Unfortunately, I attempted to make wine a couple of times and I have to include my own wine in the top three as well. But if the hotel paid over $1 a bottle for this stuff, they were getting ripped off. And so was I. Everyone else was enjoying JD and Chivas, I was left trying to find something that I liked. And after the second day, the excitement of free drinks wore off. And by the last day, we just stayed away from the alcohol all together.
But it was fun trying to find the perfect cocktail on the island. And trust me, those first few days, we experimented a lot.

The next day, we took a kayak out in to the ocean. The water was warm and clear like a bath.
I think I did most of the paddling while Kathe worked on her tan

Having fun in the Caribbean Sea.
BTW, Kathe hates my sunglasses and I do too. But they are Oakleys and they were free. So I am using them until they get lost or stolen

I think my second favorite thing to do at the resort was sail the Hobie cats. And we were even able to combine my favorite activity while sailing as well:evil

We sailed every day we were there.

That night, we went out to the Steakhouse for dinner. Again the food was pretty good but my steaks were over done.

Again, the wine was horrible. Both red and white. It was so bad I could not drink them at all. And yes, I am a wine snob, but even Kathe couldn't drink the wine either. And that should tell you how bad they really were.
