Hi all,
I just moved to the asheville area from Niger and I'm looking for people to ride with. I have limited access to the internet so please be patient if you don't hear back from me right away. I have a KLR 600 and a currently not running cbr 600. I will have a cell phone on monday the 15th so if you PM me I can call or send you my number.
I will be working for outward bound and start on the 20th at which point I'll be in the feild untill early May. So if it's after the 20th when you read this you'll have to be REALLY patient about hearing back from me. Post or e-mail me and let's go ride!

Yup that's the one, you're looking at the national page. They have a school based in NC (www.ncobs.org) that works in NC, FL, Bahama's and Patagonia. with a little luck I can drive to work.... in chile. This summer I'll be co-leading backpacking/wildeness travel, rock climbing and white water canoeing trips for NCOBS here in Western North Carolina.

there are lots of dual sporters in the area. i live just outside Waynesville, very near the parkway entrance.

i assume from the avatar you kayak? there isn't anyplace better for motorcycles AND kayaking in north america! There is only one Green Narrows!

i kayak (if you couldn't tell, lol) and/or ride both days every weekend, if you're interested drop my a line we'll go ride/paddle. you can email me at outdrcpl@yahoo.com or my cell is (828)230-0030.

You lucky SOB. That is easily one of the nicest places in the country for riding. I love it every time I go down there.

Welcome to Asheville! As XT so well put, nothing to see here.....terrible riding with crappy roads and horrid woodland conditions. I hate it here..... :rofl

I live in S. Asheville, I'll drop you a pm. I ride street only pretty much, but the occasional fire road is a blast, and there's TONS of them very close by.

Be glad to ride with ya sometime,
Chris

You know, I was actually born in Asheville, Black Mountain to be specific. It's more a homecoming for me to go back than an invasion. :D

Well, I might as well jump into the fray at some point! I am also in the south Asheville area , I see that there are several ADVriders in this area . It appears to me that there needs to be a ride day designated and a meeting of the WNC ADVriders.....

Welcome Clockwatcher! :freaky I wonder if I've seen you around. I went out to the west through cherokee a month or so ago, and saw someone on a ktm eating their lunch in the casino's parking lot, right in the corner by a fence, near the road. Later that day I passed (going the opposite way) the same bike on 28, near franklin (would have been west of franklin, I think...), if I recall. It was also a pretty chilly day to, I remember there being snow on 19 between maggie and cherokee. Wazzat you?

A run over to deals gap sounds like it may be in order here.....I was having "Rt 151 Withdrawls" last sunday....

I had to get me some good deep curves, even if I didn't make it all the way up to the BRP, like I'd wanted to. It was real nice till I started gaining elevation....:eek1

So, what's the consensus here? A day ride, check. :thumb So, where to? I don't want to have to wait for the BRP to open back up....so I'm leaning towards a Deals Gap run. Lot's of fun, and a full day, but relaxed from here. Other ideas? I mean, riding in ANY direction from here is sure to lead to some seriosuly sucky riding.....

Cool XT! Congrat's on the new ride! Went and found a couple pictures online, sweet looking bike! Should you feel the need for some street riding, hollar!! You were over towards Lake Lure, right? Must suck being right there near 9, and the switchbacks on 74.... You're gonna love that new machine!

If anyone wants to ride anytime this week I'm free and I'll be riding every chance I get. I get back from Iowa Sunday night or Monday morning then I start work on the following Sunday.
KayaKTM and I are going to try to ride on saturday 3/19 (all are welcome) other than that I have no plans except random work around the house. Post, PM or e-mail me, I have a cell but the number will change on Monday to an 828 so I'll put it up after that.
