So what are these guys going to do with these silos? I would imagine it would cost zillions to restore them.

    Facinating. And eery.

I wish I could of stayed for Alex's party....looks like it was really fun. [IMG]

I was at his site the Wednesday before the party and took a few pictures myself. I'm just starting to post his site and others to my website. Check out the panoramic pictures - gives a unique perspective on what the sites look like.

I did the round robin tour of all 12 sites and the air force base. Managed to take about 1,600 pictures in all. [IMG]

Also, visits Fitz's site here for more pictures of his fixer upper.

    Cheers,

Wow. Nice. Wish I knew, I have a slight obsession with all things nuclear. :norton

The only silo I've come across on the web for NY is a fully finished version with airstrip and cabin for about 1.3 million. Nice specimen.

Anyone want to set up a pilgrimage ride to the trinity site next april or october? That would be a good one.

I got a new camera so had to bring it along when visiting Alex today; figured I'd update this thread with some new pictures.

    First, the grounds.

During one of his visits last year, Alex finished getting the hydraulic ram for one of the doors hooked up, and closed the door. So at the moment only one door is open.

Various shots of Level 3. I didn't venture any farther down because the water level is really high at present.

Very intriguing, beyond a labor of love fixing up one of those installations.
The asbestos levels inside there must be off the charts!
All of the insulated pipes are wrapped with it.:eek1
