maybe we should meet at your house and wrench instead of meeting at a bar??
I'll host a workshop day soon enough. I have like 3-4 bikes to wrench on, 2 of them being airheads.
I do have the spare '74 block.
Let's see if there is any play in your pistons. If it's always the 'right one' ... when you 'rebuilt the bike' did you replace the con-rod bearings?
Alright, see everybody tonight at Twains.
Looking forward to seeing you after 2 years!!!! Blake! No fancy pants parking allowed.

Jenna - Your pic is upside down.
That became the norm that day
So who's coming tonight to Twain's? I look forward to seeing some new faces!
great seeing everyone last night, and i even managed to park right side up.
Great to meet you too Blake! Glad you approve of my use of your subframe
Loads of fun!
Anybody wrenching this weeked? Wife is out of town, I have some more mock up to do and get this, I need to replace plugs and wires on my car. And look what I found in my shop manual.....

That's right! I have to "roll" the engine to access the rear plugs.:huh
That has got to be the worst design ever. Frickin' GM.
GM has a prior history of this kinda planning. Early '80s V6 Monzas and Skylarks come to mind. Drilling through the fire wall with a hole saw was not an uncommon solution. :eek1
It's funny, this was originally a Toyota design. They just stopped when they got to the engine. fuckers.
The BMW Motorcycle Club of Georgia were talking about a "Spring Tech Day" this Saturday, February 23rd, but the chat has been quiet for a while. I've nudged their forum to see if anything is happening. Check out this thread (not sure if the thread is "public" so let me know if you cannot access and I'll precis): http://bmwmoga.info/forum/showthread.php?t=3267
Looks like the club tech days has been postponed, but the venue owner is keen to see motorcycle faces.
With 80% chance of rain, there a 20% chance I'll turn up for lunch!
Viet-Nomie's Cafe and Food Truck
7130 Buford Hwy, Suite C-100
Atlanta, GA 30340
1 mile north of I-285 on Buford Hwy. on the right side
I ate there yesterday. There's a scoutmob for a free Banh Mi, if you're cheap like me.
Ate at Viet-Nomie's today. Really great food. Will go back.
Drove up as my beloved wanted to give it a try (she does not ride). Eric C. who has been the coffee "chef" at the Georgia Mountain Rally in recent years for the BMW Motorcycle Club of Georgia had ridden over for lunch on his R1200RT. So go to chat with him. Also spoke with Paul and his wife Nomie, who are part of the ownership team. Paul commutes on his BMW every day! Their food truck will be on the roads around Atlanta soon, and they plan for it to be at Georgia Mountain Rally at Hiawassee in May. Can't wait.
I've got new big valve heads, r100 pistons and a new fat exhaust(thanks Fred ) to throw in but I have 2 tests Monday so I couldn't do it this weekend. Next weekend I'll either be putting them on or, if I do that during the week, welding a new crossover. I'm thinking something like this:
Like Spencer, I think a Y-pipe like this
would slow the flow so I'll be splitting the pipes and merging them into a single larger pipe.
I've got a Hyabusa muffler coming in....mainly because Jenna and Fred got ZX-10 mufflers and I gotta keep up with the Joneses
So if anybody wants to come over next weekend and play with wrenches and drink beer lemme know. Saturday or Sunday are all the same to me. Lemme know.
Hopefully after this I'll have a bike that RUNS and I can spend my few free seconds between classes riding the damn thing.
Dammit! I'd love to but....I gotta race!

I'd like to see how you are going to do this ... There is still a pound or three I can take off of my exhaust ... and that is just the place to do it ... and I do have an idea about it ...
