Well there has been a fair bit of trash talk happening lately. :evil
That is like Scrapheap resurecting 'trash' talking, and I think it might be good to start a general Scrapheap Builders Thread in the Oz Forum.

    So here it is:

Lets post our builds, questions, answers, assistance & Scrapheap parts swaps, offers & trades.

Just a heads up, Sidetrack One is organising the inaurgural

    Australian ADV 250cc Tiddlers - Rally April 18/19 2015
    http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1009438

There will be a prize for best Scrapper at this event. This is not a fund raiser but a great opportunity for a test run. You just have to have a Scrapper under 250cc.

    Pezz :)

One of my choices for next years scrapper has just the first leg of its journey home from Gawler SA and is currently languishing at Chez Old Dog at Mudgee NSW. Another honda twin. It could even be a twin for one I already have.......

Pezz and I had a discussion on wether he will have his new scrapheap bike ready for the Tiddlers Rally in April.
By looking at the bare frame, and considering Pezz's thinking (that bike builds happen in the seven days prior to wanting to use them), I think a carton will be coming my way.

    Here we go.:1drink

    I bought this a few weeks ago, 1982 Yamaha XT250, ta-daaahhhhhhh
    [IMG]

Runs OK, looks OK, cost a bit more than the Scrapper $1000 rule (don't tell Pez :wave), but rules are for married people, nice bloke owned it not too far away, so it followed me home.

I notice the tacho doesn't work, tho also notice not much cable.
That little bit of cable works OK, too, zings around chasing mossies away from the engine! So now I gotta get it out, the leftover metal is all soft around it, any suggestions??? Do I have to take the head off???? :flush

Look! Mr Yamaha-san's original toolkit is still in there!!! When I took it out it scared the shit outa me and the spider that lived in it.....:eek1
    [IMG]

Another funky 1982ism, the pillion grab strap is bolted to the frame, so it comes off before the seat :hmmmmm
    [IMG]

Sew (a needle pulling thread, lah, a note that follows sew....oh, never mind). So here it beginneth, I have a front tyre with a leak, some rust floating around in the fuel (tho the tank is in pretty good nick), and more, I'm sure, to discover, but I've got a nice little cyckle to play with and scrap with and tiddler with so all good at the moment.

If anyone has any advice on the taco cable issue/fix please let me know, also any known problems with this model. ta muchly.

the southern 2/3's of team Oldslow are concocting fiendish plans already. The two posties are gone and bigger fish are being fried. Here's a sample of what's on the menu
    [IMG]

    And this
    [IMG]

I didn't want to see this , however
    [IMG]

Plenty of work to get on with , and that ride to Mudgee in April might spur along the engine fix just in case.

I have been toying with the idea of joining the scrappers. Will have to keep an eye out for a suitable starter. .

DOT........ i reckon if you were to soak what remains of that tacho cable with penetrene or similar for a few days you should be able to gently work it out..... locking mole grips on that centre part should pull it out

Will come out easy with some needle nose pliers, a squirt of "Yield" and a quick shot of air from the compressor (to stop shit falling in the case).... if you take the circlip out first :D

    Bump!

And while I'm at it, does anyone have a use for an XR400 bolt up subframe? I have one kicking about the shed, was going to make up a bolt up subframe for an XR600 but that's too much work, be a shame to chuck it in the bin if a Scrapper can use it?

    Cheers

I'm starting out with this. Failed to proceed to Nymboida, but I have plans for 2015. Think training wheel attachment. Fits under the scrapper puchase price cap.

Incidentally the A100 in the background is for sale on Ebay now. It'd be a good scrapper for a smaller rider, depending on where 2015 is..

Ya know, as Mr Inverell, aka Col Meacham, has put a carton on my next Scrapper not making the tiddlers rally, I will build it in two stages.

Reassemble it as a CB250, run it at the tiddlers then complete my fiendish plans for Scrapheap 2015

I just need to sort out the rear sub-frame now, it has been completely pulled down from this, rear sub-frame was cut off by a fellow I gave it too . . .
