You can't even tell whether the main headlight is on or not when it's on!
It's interesting how once the lightbarl is on it soaks up the other beams light throw especially around the fender shadow in close.
I ended up with the HID setup from Rade initially which is on the bike now and I recently received the LED's which I'll have a play around with when I get back from my trip.
The nice thing about the LEDs is that they're compact and simple. Seems like lighting-wise they're about the same, I'm not sure.
You probably said it earlier but I’m just trying to catch up - which LED light bar did you go with and also which brackets?
No worries, Nev. It's a Rigid Industries 6" SR-SRS PRO LED Bar with a Driving pattern: http://shop.snakeracing.com.au/6-sr-srs-pro-led-light-bar-driving/. It's flippin' strong.
The brackets I made up myself after seeing what @1coolbanana had done. Just some aluminium flat-bar from Bunnings, a rattle can and a bit of patience!
I hope I'm wrong but given aluminium's inherent properties that can work harden and crack, that light bar is a lot of weight to be hanging off a bracket that was designed to hold 50 grams.
I'm talking about the brackets you are bolting to, not the ones you made.
Hopefully the roads will be smooth
^ no worries... 3mm aluminium will carry the weight easliy, it's a 'sprung' weight :)
Nice work Dave on the fab, a vice, a hammer and file... garage powdercoat spray booth no doubt, no over spray on them walls
Well, I will let you guys know how it goes once road tested! Good time to put money down.
(And yep, that flat-pack cardboard powder-coating booth worked a treat!)
Well without knowing what sort of roads you will be riding, but if half your trip is dirt I'll put my money where my mouth is and donate $50 to the RFDS if it survives

The desert can be a lonley place sometimes.

Hey Dorey, where did you bash plate come from?
Where's ya centre stand.?
It's all about weight conservation ;-)
That 3kg stand = 3L water
Can you tell the difference..3kg....the convenience of a centre stand outweighs that 10 fold in my book.
Pete640 made them back in the day.
