January 5th will see 6 Aussies take to the start line in South America

Ben Grabham, Troy O'Connor, Mark Davidson, Clayton Jacobson(I think he's Aussie), Shane Diener and me Allan Roberts.

This is something I have dreamt of ever since I could dream and finally its nearly upon us.

Now up until now I have been refused support by every single organization/company I have approached at least 50+, for over a year now I have searched for sponsorship but turned up nothing, so every cent of the 110k I have spent is my own. Oh well I'm going and determined to get to the end.

Now what I want to let you all know about that may help me raise some cash in the future to help with the burden is I have just written a book and come March it will be released by the publisher. What's it about- I rode a motorbike around the world, another crazy dream of mine and that too was fully self supported, it took 899 days to complete, crossing 59 countries, over 100,00k's, I lived in a tent, was held at gunpoint, malaria twice, attacked by bees, entered the UAE desert race on my way, and the list goes on, its all in the soon to be released book The Hard Way Home, a preview can be seen at www.hardwayhome.blogspot.com So if you interested I urge you to get in touch with me via alroberts996@hotmail.com and let me know how many copies you would like...hint hint, I am unsure of the price yet but I would guess around the $25 mark plus postage I only need to sell 2000 books to cover the costs of putting it together!!!! I make about 10 bucks a book.

So everyone support the Aussie in the Dakar and by any chance somebody is looking to sponsor someone I'm awaiting.......;)

    Cheers

    Robbo

G'day Robbo, I'm keen for 1 copy of your book (email sent).

I was one of the blokes who had a beer or three with you at The Bath Hotel after the screening of the Dakar Dream Racer Movie in Norwood a few weeks ago.

Good luck with Dakar too mate.

    Cheers, Sol..:thumb

    Hi Robbo,

Count me in for a book mate. I'll email you re the book and the link to a couple of my mates.

I'd be keen to hear about how you go from a world trip and racing the desert challenge to an entry on the Dakar ? Any more racing history ?

If you write about your experience at the Dakar then I'm up for that book too :D

Good luck mate, never give up ! we'll be following your progress.

Edit.. Never mind I just saw your facebook link on your page, Pretty sure I was talking to you and your mate on the saturday morning at Condo earlier in the year.

Thanks all for the responses, and yes there will be a digital version available, but that will come about March, I get 'my' requested copies first then the official release into stores and digital is March.

Yes it seems I have met a few of you guys here and there, all the adv names throw me a bit but I never forget a face.

Anyway had a good weekend of training on the bikes, went out with Shane Diener today #134(I think) shit keep an eye on him, we know he can ride but boy he can move and a very smooth rider, as for me and well everyone my goal is to get to the end.....and yes my chain is riverted on this time....bloody broken joiner link at Condo.

Thanks again everyone and I'll let you all know when its available. Dakar 41 days away......:eek1:eek1

    cheers

Picked mine up from Mick's Motorcycles here in Gawler (SA) Robbo. Looks good. I've scanned a few pages and will probably start reading it tonight. Bought another one for a mate's birthday and he's rapt too!

    cheers
