european island hopping, austrian style ;)

so here goes: im a 24 year old austrian who fell in love with biking after a holiday in greece and riding around the island of korfu with my girl and a rented bike.

after that holiday i knew, i had to retake the cycle driving courses and get myself a bike, well, so i said, so i did !

the bike i chose was a 125ccm suzuki vanvan, low on power, but big on my heart :raabia and despite it not being such a big boomer, man, i love every minute on it,
a couple of weeks ago some crazy bug stung me
and i knew i had to travel. on the bike, by myself.

so the route i laid out is austria down to livorno, ferry to corsica, drive around corsica couple days,
then the ferry to sardegna, same program there, coastal riding hell yeah, and then sicily
and god knows how ima get back lol.

i am no man to be much in towns, i love the scenery and enjoying the landscapes much more oh yeah,
this is the fella taking this long ass trip on his small ass bike ;)

so yeah, that is all i can think of right now, i am just having coffee gonna dress myself in the gear soon and well,
head for my destination or even destiny, who knows exactly aight ?

so, right now it is 6:15 am of the 15th of july and i am heading towards my goal livorno italy where the ferry leaves to corsica,
its a loooong way, about 630km and i do have my doubts to be able to make it in one day cuz the ferry leaves in the morning !

i am in no hurry at all, still it would be nice to have this waypoint cleared sort of and put my feet on the island of corsica.

so in the spirit of riding, pleasure, love and hapiness, with the mental support of my uncles yoga frog, im off for the crapper and on the ride !

Regarding your chain: clean with WD40 or don't clean at all if it's not too dirty and then just lube it with chain lube.

    day 3

thank u everybody for getting some services but the deal is every nor,al service would probably take atleast a day to finish if it is even as fast:

i am hoping maybe a adv member here is a mechanic of suzuki and reads this :D

anyway there are brutal stor,s on corsica today and i cant leave all ferries cancelled because of storm :huh and i was nearly blown of the bike several ti,es riding to bonifacio porto today
wow that sucked i literally was pushed half a meter on the road while riding i shit my pants :eek1

    but about yesterday:

i rode around the island cruising and enjoying the scenery nothing much to report just bequtiful landscapes then it was time to find a place to camp for the night
and i was shocked. first place 18euro then 30 then 25 WTF :puke1
they all had ani, ation progra,s and shit like that man i just want to sleep so i cruised outside the village and found an incredibly nice place for just 8 euros a night just what i wanted.

so i set up camp and ate then went to sleep.

the next day i talked a lot to the campground innkeeper and she showed me the awesome strqwberry thing they got going on.

so i bought some this was only 1,5 euros and the best strawberries i ever had

btw everybody the user :raabia kissthecat is my loved girlfriend :raabia of 3 years who allowed me without ,uch issues to take this trip, this picture is for you darling

but something far worse also took place; when i set to ride i thought hey why not check my chain tension and :eek1 OMG:eek1 this thing could have done me in soon !!!!
the max strech in the manual is like 2.5cm but this was close to 5 ARRRGH

so i rode SLOW AS ASS to the next village, seriously i was scared to break 40kmh and i found a store sporting a suzy sign so i asked if they had a mechanic
yes but he wouldnt be back untill 2 hours later so i got myself something to eat.

when i got back the dude was there but ,an he wasnt happy for ,y reauest but told me to follow him, a minute later my chain was tight as a virgin again :evil
i offered him a beer or anything but he said it was cool a real nice fella!

oh ... and the competition is watching ...

so yeah, last pic cruising to Bopnifacio and now ill enjoy the port and later find a place to camp as i have to stay unfortunately but meh the island is great so ill hqve a superchill evening. first ferry tomorrow 8am

and just to keep things tidy

keep on cruising everybody, its the law :deal lol :lol3

Don't cry! Sticking nice and in time to your serviceinvervall's is a nice thing but, ey, if you don't make it, no problem at all! This bike (all bikes aktually) is mainly built to be used, not to be serviced! 1000km's +/- .... Sure not ideal, but absolutely no problem!
Ahw.... and if you still can change: Ride down the westcoast of Corsica, NOT the eastcoast!

day whatever lol 7 or so idk ...

yo guys what is up !

im cruising around in sardegna and loving it, it is simply great !

ill tell you the story of elena:

in corsica i met this lad, J.B. who told me that his girl was over in sardegna and asked me to give her a message if i happen to come across where shes at.
    thats him and me:

ok so i went to sicilia having on my mind that maybe i find this chick, oh before i left i also met another austrian, johannes,
who also was on tour alone with his bus and going kite-surfing, he asked me if i had some time to spare and since i had
i helped him for an hour or two to "start" his kite in the wind and checked him out riding it, it was really cool !

plenty of kites it appears this is big in corsica:

finally i had my ticket and got the vanny onboard securely:

    :D SARDEGNA, hell yeah ! :D

so above i wrote about this girl i had to find to deliver a message from her boyfriend, well guess what, after i found a place to camp
i managed to find "il grillo" and track down elena! :)

when i showed her he picture of her lad and me and gave her his message she burst in tears :cry but tears of happiness :lol3 and thanked me so much !
a free drink and some antipasti on the house followed, hell yeah !

    thats her and me :

the evening then continued in the town of palau where i got to meet some djs, AGAIN fron austria
(are we invading sardegna or what) who were bayyled that i took the trip on my 125ccm lol
oh well i proceeded to spend the evening with them and we had a blast :)

but guess what, the following day i was cruising around findin a caffee when suddenly,
in a roundabout, somebody leaned from a car and yelled HEY ARENY YOU THE GUY FROM ADVENTURE RIDER FORUM :lol3:lol3:lol3

turned out i ran into some forum members and proceeded to have a lovely talk with them,
lol he sure was on serious motorcycle withdrawal it seemed to me lol.
the invited me to some pasta (many thanks again !!!!!!) and we had a lovely time at the caffee

so then i went for some offroad action, after all, the vanvan should be able to do it and it is !

but i had to find out that i wasnt quite able to ...

i nothing much happened, unpacked all my stuff, got it up again and repacked and went on.
i scorched my pants quite some way though, but hell, ATGATT right, better scorch the pants than having a nice piece of zorsch meat grilled ......... :puke1

even the peppers are weird in sardegna !

once it got late it was time to find some spot to camp and i ended up staying at a lake:

and now, well, i guess, continue !
