Or maybe a fire-bomber??
Not in those USAF colors.
IIRC, Paul Mantz converted an A-26 for use as an aerial camera platform. I could be wrong about this, but for some reason it sticks in my head.
Close, but no cigar. It was a B-25. http://www.aerovintage.com/N1203.htm
Thanks for the correction. My memory isn't what it once was.

The 7079G part is correct, but the "L" is missing.
I went into our museum to do some snooping on a TBM avenger that stopped over (I am working on one at this time). While there 2 gentleman came in and of asked specifically to see our DARPA SSBD F5E. (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Shaped Sonic Boom Demonstrator)
Turns out he was the Cheif AreoDynamisist for the project! I got to spend several hours with him teaching me about the airplane/modifications/theories/etc for the project.
you can read more about it here:
Look up DARPA, SSBD (shaped sonic boom demonstrator), david Graham f5e, etc

Holy crap! I didn't know they had a Fisher Eagle. :huh
And a Piper Enforcer. Neat museum.
That's all in the hangar on-base. Worth the trip.
