She is very talented. When my dad was young and just starting off he drove semi trucks. When he bought his own truck she made him a blanket and stitched his truck on it, and with great detail. He carried it in the sleeper and used it regularly. Years later he got into flying and bought a Grumman Yankee. She made a large oil painting of him in his plane over the Grand Canyon, or mountains. I can't remember which one, but it was awesome. When I got my eagle scout she sent me a large oil painting of two eagles soaring. She puts so much work, detail, and most importantly love in all she does.

She has a room in her house that she uses for quilting. When her grandkids get married, they get a quilt. In her spare time she made quilts that were donated to an organization and used for humanitarian relief. For some reason they no longer accept quilts, so she has a huge stack that she was going to give to goodwill. One of her sons in law nearly had a heart attack when she told him her plan. He said that her grandkids would love to have the quilts by grandma, so she has been giving them to her grandkids as they come to the house to visit. However, this one was set aside especially for me.

The last flying Lancaster bomber in the UK flew low over my house one day, the sound of the four Merlin engines was incredible.

My GF got the same quilt as a gift a couple of years ago........The airplane print is commercial. I can deliver pictures if proof needed.[

QUOTE=pilot815;20360236]My grandma gave me this awesome quilt that she made by hand. I was at my grandparents house on Christmas eve and she asked me if I still liked airplanes. I said I did, so she took me to the guest bedroom where she stores the quilts she has made, and she had this one for me. I am always impressed with her work and so happy to get this from her.

no doubt the print is commercial. The rest of it however is handmade, down to the custom tag she puts on her quilts.

Not necessarily. The object is to be upsun, between the sun and the other pilot's line of vision. The dazzle from the sun prevents any observation. This could be from just about any angle.

I think my german LFA should be aware of the Avenger in the Aurora!

(but yeah, hun in the sun was meaning to not get lazy and keep your head on a swivel. Came from WWI where it was standard training for the germans to maneuver such that they were between the target and the sun and then attack such that the target could not react as they couldnt see them coming until the last minute. So where ever the sun was might be a german getting ready to jump.

We headed north to downtown Denver, then around Mt. Evans, then back over the foothills.

One more. My Asus tablet is being a PITA with linking these pics and such.

This is my parent's (and my) old house in Conifer. It is the house and detached garage to the right of the oval, plowed pond. They had 11 acres but sold it to retire in France!

No real flight time for me. Just building time on Microsoft flight simulator. Been building time in a 767-300ER. Had a couple night approaches yesterday with 2 mile visibility, 700 ceiling, and snowing. Full ILS of course. I like the challenge.
