Back in 1992 I got to spend 1 week at RAF Wildenrath in Germany, home of 19 and 92 squadron for Phantom, last two Phantom squadrons in Germany. pretty cool. Was with the cadets then and was STOKED to find that was going there because they had Phantoms.

Also, I like seeing your pic of the Vulcan and B1-B side by side - similar size it appears, are they?
I took my brother to RIAT Fairford in 1997 (or 98?) and was amazed at the size of the B1-B

I had a Lowrance Airmap 1000 in my Cessna 150 and it was great. I used it all the time. I know they are discontinued, so hopefully mapping software is still available.
I chuckled at the thought of a GPS in a 150...
Back in the day when I flew 150s, long before GPS was widely available, I used water towers as nav aids...
Always fly around a water tower in the counter-clock wise direction... that way the town's name is revealed correctly.
If flown clockwise, the last letter of the town is the first letter seen by the pilot...
Somehow, not being a pilot yet, I hope that information will be useful to me in the future (preferably in flight). I know I'm going to remember it though, lol.

Its not that ugly (old name "the box the airplane came in") Which one is the plane you can ride your adv bikes into the roll up ramp, take off, and land somewhere on a unimproved field? The Shorts is virtually an RV.
I used to work on both of those. Don't really miss the shorts to much. I do miss working on Falcons. They were nice.

I actually had that discussion with one of the line service guys as we were standing there. He should be an ADV'er himself, travels quite a bit on his Night Train (with aluminum hard bags on home-made mounts) and still owns the 1979 Sporty which was his first bike. Oh...and a Pietenpol he built at around the same time. Here that is...
