Are any AZ folks interested in a skills day coupled with a ride at Sycamore? I used to do something like this when I started mountain biking more seriously. We would ride to specific obstacles that were intimidating or gave us trouble and practice those obstacles until we could ride them confidently. The ride can be as long or short as needed to get us to obstacles people are interested in trying.

    Date and Details:

December 13, 2015 @ 8:30 a.m., Sycamore, Mesquite Wash parking area. Bring your little bikes with small tanks and no excess luggage. Plan to try new things and hone skills on the trails. There is no plan to make a specific destination or number of trail miles.

As little as I've been riding this would probably be a great idea!

    That sounds like fun!
I'm up for it if it's not this coming weekend. I just got to town this afternoon and it will take me a week or so to get my wheels under me.

I'm in depending what day/weekend you choose. Sounds like some epic picture opportunities! Maybe I'll even break out the DSLR!

Interested, Yes. Able, not quite yet.

I could keep Jeff company while picking up the bikes.

Do any of those "obstacles" include health?

They could. Wanna go mountain biking? It's a good way to help with those health obstacles. :D

I agree, Nightstalker, it could be a great day for photo ops - good and bad, I'm sure. There are a couple things I have wanted to try, but have always bypassed or taken the safe 'n' sane approach on.

I may not have a bike ready for this weekend anyway, so another weekend should work. Toss out some ideas and we'll go with whatever makes sense for the most people.

I'd be interested. I've got a few days off available in the coming weeks. Thursday and Friday if the week works better. This weekend is not good but it looks like most here are on the same boat.

I'm leading a hike in the White Tanks on the 12th. Sunday the 13th works for me though. Saturday and Sunday the next weekend are free for me too.

I'll keep the 12th and 13th open. I'll need directions, I've never been there before (that's part of the attraction).

The 13th might work for me too. I might take you up on the offer to go to Bob's to pick up my forks. I just dropped them off with him and don't know if I can make it out there this week. So if you're coming this way I'd appreciate it. :)
If there's someone that doesn't need this practice it's you. :bow Trials riders make everything look so damn easy.

I would probably be able to pick them up Wednesday and at least get them to my office in Tempe. I'll send you a PM with phone info.

It looks like December 13 works for most riders, so let's go for it! The forecasts are calling for cooler temps, so I'm going to suggest an 8:30 a.m. meet time at the Mesquite wash parking area. Bring your little bikes with small tanks and strip off any unnecessary luggage. We won't need it with what we'll be doing.
