It did run. But it ran like shit. I thought it was just a carb issue and at the price I paid for it ($180) I didn't mind it having a few issues. This throws a wrench in my plans though. I'm just thinking of putting it all back together and running it until it explodes. That's what I bought it for anyway right? :dunno

Sucks cause I really like the little bike and it's perfect to ride with my son. I'll see what I can do about getting another engine and throwing it in there. Problem right now is Bedahaf L.L.C. cut my funds. :cry

I like the MFAF rule. If you don't look uncomfortable on it then it shouldn't be allowed. Like I said in another thread, Big E on an xr100 qualifies. The same bike for me is just standard. :D

I've been thinking all along that you shouldn't lose sight of the two scooters that were the inspiration for this whole idea. It was my understanding that this idea also came about as a protest to the road being improved. As such, the entrants should be riding bikes that wouldn't normally be able to traverse such a road.

i like your idea, yardstick, of just bring what you can. granted, try to stay within the rules, but ride whatever you've got ready for the event. i don't think anyone will be turned away because of what they're riding.

I just checked the rod and it looks fine. I guess it was just a bad angle on the pic. I'm wondering wtf is it that the guy did for the piston to not reach the top like that. Did he leave the rod of the 50 and just put the piston of the 125? :scratch

They open up the fifty case's like that so the 125 cylinder will sit down in the case. I have never seen one carved up like that before, you can tell a machine shop did not do that..

Did you pull the wrist pin out of the piston yet? I would like to see it and the top of the rod where it rides..

Is that the snap ring that holds the sleeve in place where the rod joins the piston?

You're doing better than I am but at least I'm still making headway. I've assembled most of the pieces in the head. I'm still looking for a camshaft and have not ordered the pieces for the timing chain yet. My better half told me I need to spread the cost of this out a little so I figure I'll do a little each month.

    Yep.

I'm not cut out for this stuff. I'm too impatient. I have been making a lot of "mods" from spare parts in the garage. Hopefully the thing makes it. May need to take a nice sized backpack to carry all the parts that fall off. :D

Anyone gone to Bob's to see if they've got pitbike parts there? I haven't been in a while.

I want to say she'd blow the budget, but maybe "budget" is the wrong word to use.

I've been wanting to sell this Red Baron pit bike set up for quite sometime now. Just to lazy to put up a ad in FM.

Wheels, tank and rear shock are not for sale.

This set up, with a donor Honda 50 and a rear shock...could be a...winning set up:deal.

PM me for more details and price.

After reading this, I made darn sure that I put both of them in place when replacing the piston head today. Trouble was, I kept shooting the first one across the garage and somehow I found it both times. (Maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket.) After that, I decided to tie fishing line onto them so if they tried to take flight again, they wouldn't get very far. Those suckers were a pain in the butt to get down in that little groove.

so nothing on this POS wants to work properly.

Question: how do I find out what pitch chain I need for a certain sprocket. The sprocket that came with the rear wheel that I just bought is not the same as the chain I had (which is a 420 and the most common pitbike size). I haven't a clue what chain goes with it and it's not stamped with anything. I tried to simply swap out the sprocket but the bolt pattern is different. [IMG]

To top things off the rear brake caliper wasn't working. I took it entirely apart and spent quite a bit of time bleeding it. finally got it working. Was exited to show my exchange student my progress and when I went to plunge the master I hear a distinct sucking sound. FACK! I had the bleeder nipple open.
