Been batting around the idea of coming down in the spring to ride the desert with my parents out near Parker. Thinking about leaving a bike there with them and had a question. If I buy one there it seems pretty simple to get a plate in their name.

If I bring a bike though with an Oregon title what is the process for getting a plate? Is there a physical inspection or just hand over the title and get an AZ title and plate. They are an hour from a DMV so I'm not sure I want to bring one of my bikes if it means jumping through a bunch of hoops. Either way the bike will stay there.

Do not some AZ counties have a pollution control for registering bikes? Saw that on the AZ DMV.

La Paz county if it matters. They are way way way out. Cool place actually but not much to do but drink and ride, hopefully not in that order. Retired life looks rough.:D

Trying to get things lined up so I can get out to thier place and take off riding. Leaving a bike there would be much easier than hauling one back and forth each trip.

I've read enough threads that I'm totally confused now. Maybe some law changes recently?

You can do the transfer over the phone if you want to, and get an AZ license and title with your OR address on it. You will need to get mandatory liability insurance on the bike. The emission testing is only right around Phoenix.

Maricopa county has emissions testing of bikes. The DMV is easy. You get a ohv sticker for 25.00 and it brings your registration down to like 7.00. Sign a piece of paper saying that your bike is street legal, and you're done. Walk out with title, plate, stickers, everything. :clap

Great info. Thanks all. I wanted to have everything lined up so my parents don't have to be driving me all over the place. I haven't figured out how but retired life seems to be pretty busy.:lol3
