I like the idea. Maybe a small entry fee for some cheesy trophies. Mini offroad gumball rally.

Can someone here tell me if the 'back way' is the route that starts at/near lake pleasant?

I'm ready to go check out CK, but want to get a clue first.

There are quite a few routes to Crown King besides the way in from Bumble Bee off of I-17, which is considered "The Front Way" by most. The one most people call "The Back Way" does start near Lake Pleasant. Check out nsrides for GPS routes.

Ok, thx yardstick. I'd like to just explore there, but with travel time factored in to a day ride from Havasu, there isn't time.

I'm interested in riding my 990 thru Wickenberg to Pleasant, take the gnarly route up to CK, then maybe cruise down to Black Canyon City via the easy 'front way.' Then head home.

I'll check out those gps routes, thx again

From Wickenburg to Lake Pleasant, to minimize paved roads, try Constellation Rd to Buckhorn Rd to Castle Hot Springs to the CK rock. About 35 miles of big bike friendly primitive roads, including some creek beds. These roads can be a muddy mess for a few days following a good rain.
