    So Ive found this report for the second time...I read it first on your blog a while ago and it was really the first well documented trip of its kind that I had seen. Then I eventually found this forum and was contemplating asking you to post it here until I came across this today. Really inspiring stuff. Glad to see that you and Trevor (kerncountykid) are aware of each other as your respective trips have been a huge inspiration to me - a fellow 70s cb550 owner in his twenties. This has made all of the work on my bike through the winter at once inspired and gut wrenching as I cant wait to get back on the road come spring. I hope we can all cross paths someday, planned or otherwise.

    thanks for the story

    Jeremy

    I'll add to the heaps of appreciation here.

    Fucking balls dood!
    I hope to make some travels (longer ones) on my 550 in the future as well (mines a cafe'd '75).

    And flatout in TX I'd say you were travelling ~110mph (if you were near redline). I always say that 100+ on these bikes is akin to 160 on a modern sport bike - nothing like a 35yr old motor between your legs screaming for it's life at redline in top gear :eek1

    550 = nearly unbreakable.
    I've overreved mine sooooo many times missing a shift, hitting 12,000rpms, and it KEEPS ON RUNNING.

    Keep it up man!! :clap :clap :clap

    Just read this mate. Its like 4am in the morning before I finished it. Twice I tried to bugger off and go to bed and decided to stick it out as I wanted to get the end.

    Bloody good read. Well done.

    Awesome trip! Definitely inspiring. If you don't mind me asking, how much money did you spend on the trip. I only ask because I plan on taking a trip from ny to the west coast this summer and I want to get a good idea of how much I should save. Thanks!
