I got busted this week on a speed camera that I did not know was there. So, I thought I would add these to my GPS to advise me when they are coming up.

I found a site that has a database and I picked out the AZ specific ones. Now I know that they are not completely up to date, as the one I got nabbed on is not in there. so I added the bastard to the list.

If you need to make changes to this list and would like to add to it please do and just post the next corresponding version number.

in this list I have the highway speed cameras plus the red light cameras. the new thing is that the red light cameras are now also ticketing for speed. not sure whick ones, but I am sure that all in the future.

So I am calling this one, v1.1 for adding in the camera at MP 285.7 on highway 69 into <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Prescott</st1:place></st1:city> valley

I used red circles for red light cameras and red ovals for highway cameras.

Also, if you get there and there is no camera, please delete it and update it here.

I got the master file at : http://www.gps-data-team.com/poi/united_states/safety/

like I said, I downloaded these, so I cannot account for accuracy. but, with input we can make it as accurate as possible.

    thanks.

    and don't tell me to drive the speed limit, that is not an option <!--[if gte vml 1]><v:shapetype id="_x0000_t75" coordsize="21600,21600" o:spt="75" o:preferrelative="t" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" filled="f" stroked="f"> <v:stroke joinstyle="miter"/> <v:formulas> <v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"/> </v:formulas> <v:path o:extrusionok="f" gradientshapeok="t" o:connecttype="rect"/> <o:lock v:ext="edit" aspectratio="t"/> </v:shapetype><v:shape id="_x0000_i1025" type="#_x0000_t75" alt="" style='width:11.4pt; height:11.4pt'> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\STEVEN~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip_image001.gif" o:href="http://s3.amazonaws.com/advrider/naughty.gif"/> </v:shape><![endif]--><!--[if !vml]-->:evil<!--[endif]-->

Ride between the patches in the pavement and you won't rip them. I fly through them on the 101 and SR69 all the time...

They make some spray to spray over your license plates so the camera can't get your license.

Just go the limit in Paradise Valley. They have photo cops everywhere.

damn good info. do cops bust your chops for plates that are tucked under down there?

I saw an episode of mythbusters where they tried all those sprays and paints to cover the plates from cameras and none of them worked. :bluduh

yeah, I know about all that. soon as a cop sees that he can ticket you for not having a clear view of your license plate. that spray reflects light so a bright headlight would do the same.

I am not really worried about this ticket. I been in az what, 6 years and never a ticket. so no real worries. I just thought someone might appreciate knowing when they are coming up.

this one, I had no idea it was there. that is why it got me.

Hey Cyber, just so you know when you are coming in town if you go the 101 south thru <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Scottsdale</st1:City></st1:place> there are some cameras so take a peek. Primarily the reason I posted this. It’s just nice to know where they are.

I remember reading an article in a car magazine where these two guys in Australia snuck up to a photo cop car and stole the license plate. They mounted the plate to their car then made several high speed passes past the photo cop car.

In AZ you can register as an LLC for $80 and then transfer your vehicles to the LLC. The camera processing company doesn't send a summons to a company, they only send a warning letter. So, the individual gets a ticket but the individual who registers their name as an LLC gets a letter.

If you're wearing a full-face helmet in AZ, they don't even bother sending the ticket because it's too hard to ID the rider from the photo. The bike's registered owner says,"it's not me" and they can't prove otherwise. FF helmet with a dark-tint shield makes it impossible.

I DO mind speed cameras. I'm ready to sue when the first one premiers in my area.

I don't mind red light camera. I think people should stop when told to do so. However, folks were very successful in CA getting cameras uninstalled by proving the operators of the cameras shorten the yellows to increase ticket rates.

It is also been proven that lengthening the yellows decreases the traffic fatality rate more effectively than the red light cameras which merely generate revenue - not improve public safety.

I've only seen the show mythbusters a few times and though they were funny and interesting, they were not very accurate or thorough ... the most they can honestly say is we did "x" and got "y" results. Usually though they tend to add to that equation an illogical conclusion such as therefore all KTM's are more reliable than all Hondas. (Even though in this case it may be true ;)). And just as the police show "cops" rarely shows anyone getting away in a high speed chase their following a responsible agenda to send a message to the publlic that you can't get away with breaking the speed limit or whatever.

Of course the manufactures claims can hardly be called unbiassed an accurate ... it sure sounds like an interesting product though. Much safer to be rebellious than having a red neck somewhere take pop shots at the cameras with a long range rifle.

We`ve got thousands of the fecking things on our small island and all they are good for is a revenue collector for the government.

They are supposed to be placed in positions where there is a danger from speed or is an accident blackspot. This doesn`t happen and they love to put them in places where thyey know they will catch ordinary people going about their business. No one minds them in built up areas or near schools but it`s become policing via camera over here. We NEVER see police patrols now and camera`s don`t catch the real idiots who drive like muppets with no insurance etc.

Let me tell you guys there is no easy way to hide your number or identity and the sprays just don`t work. At one time, if they couldn`t prove who was riding or driving the vehicle, you would not be convicted of speeding but they have plugged that loop hole now. If you cannot or will not say who was riding or driving the vehicle, the fine and penalty points double. The authorities no longer have to prove it was you with solid evidence so in effect, you are guilty until proven innocent.

There was me thinking we lived in a fair society........

The big thing with camera`s are, they have no proven effect on the general speed of vehicles but oly slows them at the camera site so they don`t really work. The price of gas does though and at $11 per gallon it slows you down just a notch!!

Would be good to know who you are going to sue and and what grounds? It`s been tried over here and not worked.
