Cyberdos, The website does not mention the opening date you mentioned. I get the feeling it's best to call! What's your experience?

    First bulletin under Closures:
If you click on map you'll see that it says that FR300 is closed at the junction of the 260.

It's the same date every year. I'm not sure why people say it's some random day when the roads dry out. :dunno Of course it's never a bad idea to call them up and ask. :thumb

There was 5 of us 2 ktms 2 drz400s and my DR650. Kenny fixed my throttle, Howard brought tortillas and deuce froze his ass off cowboy camping. We made it up Cherry Creek no worries only bent my shifter in a slow speed drop, some of the washouts were impressive but nothing we couldn't hit after a little staredown

yo, it was epic! Howard and deuce made it from the border of mex to the utah border in about 4 days and a morning. We meet Kenny, Adam, and Julian somewhere in the middle. The whole ride was doable. There were a few closed roads and downed trees but nothing to stop a dirt bike. Ill try and do a proper ride report with pics and stuff and junk next weekend. i have about a 1000 pics/vids to look at. Being gone for a week makes for a real load of stuff to get done on the return...

So how was that stretch between Globe and Young? :)

I was thinking about attempting this stretch in a coming weekend (not sure when).

Awesome! do it. Riding it pretty easy if you have any technical skill for the few washed out sections. Not doing that on a 600lb bike would help tremendously too!

    Thanks! Cherry Creek Road, noted.

I was going to ride it on my new Tiger 800XC (assuming the deal doesn't explode at the very last minute and I end up not getting it). Otherwise it'd end up being on my DR650, or maybe my V-Strom if I got really brave. I just put new plastic on that thing, so I dunno.

We are doing the AZBDR starting mid-May 2017. Riding an F800GS and a KTM990. Where do the washouts start? Are they only in the last 16 miles before young (marked experts only on butler map)?

I did the AZBDR with longrangeDRZ ( Alias Deuce, Big Worm) start to finish. Big worm is a "A/B" rider.
However I am a "C" rider at best. No part of the AZBDR gave me any trouble on my KTM 500, although I do tend to go slower than most. I would take my 1190S on 90%of the AZBDR easy. The other 10% the 1190S and I could do it but would not be fun. If your a "B/C" or better, a F800GS and a KTM990 should be great. I had a blast, met some cool cats along the way (80am).
I have heard rumors Big Worm is going to post a proper ride report.
