Took a quick early morning venture back to the farming community of Aguila. Only out about 2.5 hours as it was to be a warm 108 degrees. A good day to stay "shaded-up". :1drink

Arizona's other "Gold", Water & Agriculture! Irrigation ditch & bee hives surrounded by Melon fields.

Thought the angles of this Cotton field were unique...

Got into an area that was posted "Organic"
Two, 3 row planters running together and a man walking behind each row watching. I was the only one of the group that spoke English, so no conversing. I'm guessing they were planting melon seeds of some sort.
I was involved with farming in the Midwest my entire childhood through high school + a couple more years. I always find any kind of agricultural production interesting. :thumb

    Another time...

Took another early AM trip to the South... Vulture Mine road into the Belmont Mountain range and on to the very exciting settlement of Tonopah! A bit more pavement riding than I like, 110 miles only 39 in the dirt, but it was the fastest way to get back to my 'cool shop'.

Belmont Mountains, destination was on the other side...

The few clouds were welcome as they delayed the heat :eek1

    Belmont Mine remains...

Guessing this was some sort of water tank, approximately 12' deep. At this point I'm on the South side of Belmont Mountains.

Bridge across the C.A.P. canal. Colorado river water head'n towards "The Valley of The Sun".

A few cows at the Tonopah Dairy. Yes it did have an odor!:eek1:eek1:eek1 However I'm sure it smell's like $$$ to the dairy people.

Made a stop at the Shell station in Tonopah and had a cool drink in the shade then road'd back to the Casa.

Hope you enjoyed another backyard trek. :1drink

A quick trip out to the farms... Harvesting "Chickpea's" otherwise known a Garbanzo Beans. These are the black variety, primarily used for protein in feed.

Sitt'n in the shade watching the activities...:1drink

Good example of the size of this little machine... dumping into a 40' grain trailer! I'm guessing a 30' floating grain-head.

Also ran across these three Li'l Javelina...

... and a Pig clicking his teeth! He must be one of those pig's that is not a Honda fan!:clap

Hope you enjoyed another li'l backyard Trek...

Cool report. FYI the big farm in Aguila is a John Deere test site. You can see stuff not yet available to the public if you have good eyes and know what to look for.

Subscribed! Keep them coming. I do some riding in that area on my DRZ. Getting a bit warm now, so I want to try to hit crown king, Prescott, or maybe a flag trip soon.

Yes I know some of the engineers there...
However they are sworn to secrecy! Would really like to visit their Shop sometime... but Off Limits to us "Farm Boys". Do see some of the test equipment occasionally but hard to identify.
Not long ago there were three Lear Jets at the Wickenburg Airport for about a week. Thought they were guests at one of the Guest Ranches but understand they were some Big-Shots from John Deere. Checking out a new line of tractors!

Mefadv - Enjoying your day trips. Hopefully, this coming winter I'll have my place out there too. I'll keep a dual sport and a Ducati there I think. I've ridden a few loops from Cave Creek. Very nice. I have a son who is plating an XR4 like yours and he plans to ship it there too. Seems like a natural bike for those parts.

Yes it is very hot here but I still ride a couple morning a week. (I'll drop a few more pic's in here soon) I have lived in the desert southwest tooo long...:huh As I truly enjoy a nice "cloudy-morning" ride that begins at 80 and ends near 100 degrees. Can't take those winter ride temps that I once enjoyed 35 years ago in Missouri. Hell I now think it's cool at 60 degrees... a real wuss! :eek1
Glad you enjoyed my backyard treck's....

The XR4 seems to do well for me... The only major negative for most riders is no "magic-button". As I get older and my hip get's, even more stiff, it will likely become more of an issue.

But for now it's a good ride. I have made several modifications... nothing too severe. ....just making it my "own ride". :D

Really enjoy the pics Mefadv! Lots of familiar sights. You are an animal to still be riding the low country at this time of year. :clap

Past this area many times... however the early morning sun made this li'l outcropping jump at me!

This Ocotillo was a stand-out this morning...

Wow... the State of Arizona has finally done what I suggested... Crappers strategically placed around the desert :rofl

Melon harvesting... cantaloupe anyone... These are like candy to Coyotes once they get good and ripe...

This is your ride-report quiz... What kind of blossoms are these? :huh
Hint... your shirt is likely made of this processed material. :norton

"Summertime Sunrise" Need I say more.

Again... Hope you enjoyed my backyard trek's

I love checking in on this thread. We live in such a great place to ride. As long as you don't mind getting up early, year round trail riding can't be beat!! Please keep up the posts.
