Be glad to have you Eddy... Can you slowdown to my Excursion speeds?
Off course , I will pm to when and where, just wanna do something easy and mellow my lower back is killing me nowadays.
We are leaving Sunday on a 3 day ride that would straighten that lower back right out
Just a few miles of single trac on Sunday afternoon. Only one photo of a tough double track that leads to the single trac that circles this mountain. A bit of single trac certainly made me aware of my 3/4 worn-out MT21. The off camber sections were like riding on ice. Also reminded me as to why this O'l-guy no longer craves the single groove!
Thought it was s nice photo...
That is a nice photo you took.
Another time... Riding not far West of Wickenburg... just kinda cow-trailing... free style riding. Just going from Point A to B. Not following any particular trail or road. Came upon this mess in the desert :eek1
It seems that sometime I'm guessing 50 or 60 years ago someone buried a bunch of junk here. Looked like a household dump sight with several machine parts, boots, your name it buried here. Well... scavengers found the spot looking for ? ? ? Digging down 4 or 5 feet, where things were buried. Discarding unwanted items all around the hole and leaving them. Not taking the time to scoop them back in the hole.
This kind of thing does not set-real-well with me. Just the same as people now dumping in the desert as far as I'm concerned. I guess this is the ugly side of "civilization".
That is a lot of junk in the desert. :huh
Always fun to go exploring though, never know what you might find.
Another time... to the East of Wickenburg... a simple circle from constellation road, crossing the Hassayampa River, back to the metropolis of Wickenburg. Approximately 45 miles, 3 hours.
Came across this li'l critter... he seemed to be intrigued by my Pirelli
Just got me one of them-thar RESCUE-ME colored helmet's!
Another time... What can I say, when the weather is good I go riding!
This was a exploratory expedition West of town. Just looking around some old mining/ranching roads. Had three turnarounds as there were lots of rolling Obama rocks on some of the climbs and descents. Not the best terrain to be riding alone.
Took a little break in the shade of this Saguaro... After taking this photo I noticed a buzzing sound. :eek1
Found it :eek1 :eek1 :eek1 A Honey Bee hive in one of the Boots in the Saguaro... see the hive
Needless to say I slipped away quietly, checking my gear for buzzer's before putting it back on.
This was one of my turn-around spots... did not like those big rocks at the bottom and just straight back up the other side with tree limbs in the middle of the trail
A great day to be in the Wilds of AZ...
A concrete wildlife watering contraption... Cattle are fenced out.
Then this Happy little fella on the way back...:eek1 Notice my tire tracks near the fang end. He was really singing a tune. A sound you never forget!
This dirt tank ran over the top of the dam in late September. Nearly dry now...
If you want to know where I am... Vulture Peak is through my windshield.
This was the pace today...
Hope you are enjoying these little excursions... I do!
Hey Mark. Just found your thread. Good stuff. Keep it coming!
Nice ride in your area, thanks for sharing, I'm going to the inlaws in Yuma for Thanksgiving, I think I'll drag the DR down and poke around
Surprised the rattlers are still out. I figured we'd be done with them by now.
Thank you !
I'm gonna have to get out your way some day and see if you can show me around a bit!
Surprised me tooo :eek1 :eek1 :eek1
Snuck away for a couple hours this afternoon.
Nothing special.... a little 18 mile loop out Constellation Road. Dropped into the upper end of Blue-Tank Wash.
This is a steep wash with several exposed drops and loose sand between. Sand was not too bad today as we have had some rains.
Lots of loose downhill to the wash...
Awesome Striped Rocks...
Throw in a couple of majestic Saguaro's and a few clouds = a nice photo...
Someday I'm going to jump this rockpile... looks easy but the far side is kinda scarrry.:eek1
A mile or so of this...
and this... those tire tracks are from a full-bore Rock Crawler!
Another li'l rock pile... not a difficult as it looks from this angle.
Tough little Barrel Cactus growing in a rock crack.
Hope you enjoyed my little trip... I did
Keep them coming Mark...
The pic of the striped rocks and saguaro is a winner!
Another day... Bighorn Mountain range... South & West of Wickenburg...
Two wilderness areas in this range and the CAP canal to the South. I trailered to the area as I have lived in AZ tooo long and don't like those 40 degree morning rides!!! :eek1 64 miles and about 6 hours on my meter, a great day!
Nice area with an abundance of Saguaro's and Red Rock outcroppings.
Lots of multiple Saguaro's in the area, a rather unique growth pattern.
Beginning of Wilderness areas
Central Arizona Project Canal... West & East view... How the hell do you get to the other side?
Lucky for me a cattle crossing and XR4 is just the same width of a cow. Several quads had to made a turnaround on the far side as they are wider than Cows!
This was at one time a good size building... not certain what it's purpose was :huh
A few miles of this and a section of 2-3' wash-outs about spaced at 30 to 50'. Glad to be on the long-legged XR4, although I usually curse the tall seat height.
I came at this Ass-Backwards because I got to the entrance 40 miles into the ride :huh
Very pretty country nothing too difficult but sections of rocky trails and deep washouts will keep you on your toe's.
Nice medley of pics. Gotta love the year round riding!
