    Wurkz 4 me!

Just watch out for the darned goats!

Deeper into the March calendar is better for daylight and weather.

Ya'all need to get off the tamale/beach habit and ride the interior.

I meean, if L Pos can do it, so can the rest of you gurlz.

You gotta get off of Hwy 1, seriously. For miles, not 40 feet to take a leak like Pman!

Yes, that is a "trail." It has been there for about 8,000 years.

For me it would be. I prefer the 60* range give or take 10. We're going from 2/21-3/15ish because it's a break from the end of the winter and work slows down for us about then. Like Hells suggested, I want to spend as much time in the interior as I do on the water next year. The desert is really beautiful down there with lots of cool history.
The day we left our gear behind in town to ride up to Mission San Borja was the best day of riding I had down there.

bunch of us goons from seattle are heading down again next feb...17-25. Sleep near the beach but ride the interior to a taco stand or 3...repeat 9x and return to reality.

Thanks Pman, found it. Now I remember that you mentioned this thread to me at the camp out last weekend. The memory of some of those conversations is at best a little hazy. :freaky
Really would like to meet you guys, ride with you next year in Baja. February and March seem to work for us this year. There will be already a lot of those whale hugging eco-touristas roaming around in their tour buses I'm afraid. Whale season starts in November, ends in April.
I loved the April's Fools date from 2016 because the touristas had gone and it started to be nice and warm, good enough for swimming in the Sea of Cortez (No sting rays either) and we were able to ride the scenic 395 down to Mexicali . Don't think that date would work for us again.

Just throwing that out there: middle of January on is pretty quiet too?
Hells would probably know the best time visiting Baja.

I ride with a group out of the SF Bay area every year last week in Jan or first week in Feb. Moved to Hillsburro in 2013 from Silly-Con-Vally.
BoLA > San Fransicitos > Mulaje > Los Arcos > Some other place I don't rememeber the name > Scorpion Bay > Rice and Beans > BoLA.
Missed it this year due to some broken ribs from Moab :(
It is a LONG drive the first few days and the last few days, so I have been thinking of joining up with a group out of the PNW to split some driving up.

Yep, 25 hours from Springfield to the crossing with driver changes, not bad at all.
Next time though: less I-5. That last slog before the turn at Bakersfield sucked...
    99 better?

Nope, I5 is always better through the central valley.
I used to live in LA County and went back and forth from San Jose to LA 5 - 10 times a year.
There is a bit of a trick in LA
    I5 > I205 > 605 > 5
or take I10/60 > I15 to avoid the Sandy Eggo mess.

99 sucks big time. You might be stuck behind endless lines of trucks passing each other.
On the way home we took I 215 north from San Bernardino to CA 138 through Palmdale to Gorman on I 5. Fast road and very scenic with little traffic, bypassing the LA / Pasadena I 210 mess very nicely.
Did you take CA 58 out of Bakersfield to CA 395? That's a pretty nice road to. Just runs a little to far north

Or you could just drive down 95 through Nevada and take Highway 6 to Bishop CA and then 395 for a beautiful traffic free drive. But I guess you need to live over here for that. Nevermind...

It takes us about 15 hours to get there at a leisurely pace :ksteve

    We
We did that last year. I 5 to Shasta, Susanville to Reno, CA 395 all the way to I 210. Fast, no traffic and spectacular Vistas. Was just a little to cold and snowy this year. Bridgeport nighttime temps were in the teens. :vardy

We did 5>58>247>62>10>86>78 (Bakersfield, Barstow, El Centro)
The ruts on the 5 from Los Banos to Barstow, and the potholes from Barstow to Mojave were killer- glad I put on new tires the week before the trip or we would have had a DNF...

That is likely to happen. 50th running of the Baja 1000. Gonna be a a big horsepower party for a thousand miles and a thousand Tecate Lights!

Worth the hassle and reckless endangerment to witness/participate in!
