Isn't it funny that the food never seems to last long enough for the camera to ready?
Another great Baja trip with some great guys, 3 days of riding big bikes, 2 days of 5 bikes and 1 day of 6 (4 super enduros, 990R, 950A). Minimal issues; 1 flat tire, 1 broken foot peg, 1 lost bash plate bolt. Can't wait to go again.
We had a long slab down to Puerto Nuevo to fuel up the bodies, everyone full and ready to find some dirt.
Nothing but the Pacific on our right for the rest of the day (pic dzrtracin)
Stop over at Coyote Cal's, which was pretty full. Glad we made reservations. Getting ready to roll out of Erindira.
Just south of Erindira, the 990R looking good
At the same spot with a little controversy ... does Nowwhat look better than the bike or does the bike look better than Nowwhat?
We all sped past a sharp right turn to head back to the beach. Todd-lite and I figured it out and waited about 40 mins before leaving some signals for the other guys. Turns out Mike and Tom saw the arrows and Shawn saw the beer.
Todd-lite and I hit the beach, I stopped for a pic of the ocean, turned around and only saw his track.
We had some fun riding around in the dunes ... right until I almost went off an 80' drop off. I bailed and luckily the bike stayed on top.
Todd-lite checking the surf at Quatro Casas
We all ended up back together in Camalu and headed for Mike's Sky Ranch. The back way in from El Coyote has some pretty blown out spots. Suffered the broken foot peg after dropping my bike on a rocky hill climb.
The repairs station at Mike's, Shawn fixing a rear flat and Mike solving my issue by rigging the passenger peg up front.
Great dinner and a rare fire for us to enjoy afterwards at Mike's. Leaving early to start the last day.
Arnie rode up to Mike's Sat afternoon to meet us and then led us on some great tracks back to Tecate. A couple of well sorted super enduros at the KC memorial.
We made a stop on the Compadre Trail that made for a great pic of some awesome bikes.
When are we going again?
Thanks for putting it all together Todd....
Nice ride.... Miss baja
Man, I look so tiny on that bike! Thanks for the invite and being the designated catherder, Todd. Also nice to see Shawn again and to meet Arnie and "Todd lite".
Looking forward to the next one!
Noel, take my spot for the next one, me and Tom started getting stink eye for not being on SE's at the end of the weekend, something about constantly having to wait for us. Pretty sure I heard whispers of an SE only ride next time. :huh
Todd - you can join me on my next "Too Big A Bike in Baja" ride, you just need a bigger bike.
Mike went to Mexico? Who'da thunk.
I have never seen anyone ride a one foot pegged ADV faster than you...
Looks like a good one! All you're missing is a drunk Armenian.
nope she is in the big red bag on the back of Todd's bike
Leave it to whitey.
BIG thanks to TODD for getting us rounded up for this ride, had not seen tom for over 2 years, arnie & todd lite since DV boobs ride & mike pretty recently. GREAT group & good camaraderie, even if i was poked at quite a bit
Ended up being 650.8 miles total in all according to my ODO but i was told it should have been more
The obligatory cliff shot, one of my favorite coastal pics in baja (thanks tom)
Just after sunset & Cals place, a MUST stop & stay the night place in baja!
Hopefully the next ride down is soon & the talk of SE's only is strictly hearsay. Thanks again boys
My trip is still on. Right now we are at four Adv's, a GS, and a knobby tired Multistrada. Crossing the border in Tecate on the 17th of February. Should be fun.
Hope you get the chance to post up some pics/recaps of your trip Tim, have a great ride.
Just to reiterate what Todd had said earlier, the back road from Camalu to Mike's on the uphill is in the worst shape I've ever seen it. The recent rains have washed away any dirt and turned it into a very rocky mess. It was the first time I've taken a big ADV through it and it was pretty challenging. Don't stop moving, momentum is your friend in this section.
It was great meeting up with you guys at Mikes! Nice to meet you Mike and Tom and hope to ride with all of you again soon (even Shawn ).
Baja never disappoints for great riding and adventure!
nice ride you guys did! looks like the weather was great too.
todd, i guess you're 100% and got the clearance to get back on the big bike now...
How bad could it be? (old reference to Simpson Trail)
