I felt like Arnie and I were friends from the first time we met. He probably had that effect on a lot of us. So many rides and so many memories in what feels like way too short a time. I can't believe it. My heart goes out to his fam & friends. Good rider. Good man. Here's to you Arnie.

Saturday Oct 7th, a few of us will be arriving at Horse Power Ranch for an overnight before heading back to Tecate on Sunday. Would be awesome to see as many people as possible that night to join us in several toasts to our lost brother.

    Let's fill this place up!

I reached out to Christie and she wants to be there. Maybe before we post it, can we send her some dates to make sure she can make it?

    Mike's Sky Ranch - Saturday Oct 7th

Our small group has changed our upcoming ride plan and we will now be at Mike's Sky Ranch on Saturday afternoon/evening. We plan to pour plenty of tequila and beer in honor of Arnie. All are welcome. There will be a future event at Horse Power Ranch so stay tuned.

Ha! Always wanted to sleep out in the courtyard, but couldn't figure out how to make it work. You nailed it! Did anyone give the stink eye for moving mattress outside?

Unfortunately my timing wouldn't work out with others, so made a solo ride two weeks ago into Northern Baja. Aside from losing my iPhone and camera when I forgot to zip up my tank bag on a stop on the very first segment , I had a great time!

First day, I crossed the border on my Husky 501 at about 8:30am. Went south on Hwy 3 about 10 miles, and then took dirt roads east to hook up with the Compadre Trail just south of Santa Veronica. Headed down Compadre to Ojos, and passed the only motorcycles I would see on dirt roads for the entire trip. Quick gas stop in Ojos, then took some B1K trails south and eventually east to Hwy 3, crossed the highway over to the Caselli Memorial (ran into some fencing that wasn't there earlier this year, and had to route myself around) then continued south to Valle T. More gas in Valle T. El Rancho tacos was closed so headed straight to Mike's for the night. Was completely surprised that on a Saturday night, with absolutely perfect riding conditions, I was the only motorcycle there. Had a few toasts to Arnie Fry that night!

Sunday, I left Mike's in the morning and took the route over to El Coyote. The route is pretty much in the same shape it's been in for the past few years. Stopped at El Coyote to say Hi, and get a coke. Then headed west to the coast, hit the beach and stayed on the beach all the way to San Quintin. Again, the only bike enjoying the miles and miles of some beautiful beach riding. Just south of San Quintin, I took a short inland loop before continuing on to El Rosario for the night. Only bike at Baja Cactus that night. More toasts to Arnie and a great dinner at Mama Espinosa's.

Left the next morning towards Catavina, and then took some great trails and some ST west towards the coast. The Catavina area is some of the most beautiful in all of Baja - love the area! But again, ran into some new fencing since the last time through and had to figure out some go-arounds. Hit the coast north towards Punta Baja, then El Rosario and took pavement to San Quintin. In San Quintin I headed west to the coast, but then jumped on some inland coastal routes north to Colonet for the night. More toasts to Arnie at the Hotel Paraiso Colonet (and the only bike there).

Next day was a fairly short ride from Colonet along the coast to Erindira, then on to Santo Tomas. Lunch and beers and then pavement to Ensenada, where I was meeting some friends for drinks and dinner that night. The following morning was back on the Compadre Trail to Tecate.

The weather could not have been any better. Great blue skies, sunshine, 70's and 80's during the day, and really no fog along the coast. Other than dealing with some new fencing the trails were great. Being solo, I could ride the pace I wanted - sometimes fairly fast and other times taking stops to just smell the roses (or the Baja dirt and cactus in this case). There's times when I'm by myself in a pretty remote region in what seems like the middle of nowhere, and it just feels great - so peaceful!

Finally remembered that I could take some pics with my Virb (go-pro type) camera but only took a few. I do have some video to edit and post soon though...

Looks like you had another great ride Larry. Looking forward to finding some of the treats you left behind on our ride this weekend.

I am DEFINITELY still not supporting the UTV craze, but a kit being sold at the OffRoad Expo last weekend at least makes a Razr look pretty cool.
